Convincing my parents

Okay, I have had the same PC for 3 years, its not bad, but its not good in anyway, How could I convince my parents to get me a PC, I built one on pcpartpicker and it came too £1600 but I ca probably get it cheaper, Any help?

And If you think I could slice some pounds off by getting a cheaper ssd, hdd, ram, psu, ect

You could say it is for school and with a 3TB HD you only need one 500gb SSD. Put windows on it and you favorite games and then it should be fine.

Pretty good system there. Get the gaming 7 with usb 3.1 and tak off one ssd and get a 2 tb or 1 tb hdd. Always easy to add those later and that should save a chunk of change. Only way I can think of convincing parents is if you want to do something with your computer and help towards a career. Something like editing or being a tech.

980ti is WAY over kill.. Something like a 390 would be fine. Depending on what you're using it for obvs.

Nothing is overkill, not even at 1080p.

If you can put in 600 I'd say it would be easier to consider having your parents put in something like 400. You can build a pretty good PC with £1000

Yeah I know its overkill, but, tis way better than a 980 and overkill is good, I will be slowly upgrading this as I go over the years hopefully, Ive put about 4 months of research into this

Also, you don't need to go for the gold right away. Ask for something reasonable now, rather than all top of the line stuff. The beauty of a PC is that you can upgrade it at our leisure. If you like putting things together and taking them apart as much as you said, you'll enjoy this process, and get experience in doing so.

What will you be doing for school that a normal $400 desktop can't do? If they are paying then you really need to show them why pay more for it. Gaming will not win them over alone.

If you're going for 4k yeah a 980+ is needed but I didn't know that before so I assumed it was for 1080p... It should last ages, my PC has, 3 years and it's still going strong with 1080p gaming, with most games running 60FPS on medium/high.

No.. Such... Thing... There's never a thing called overkill, in 6 months there could be a game thst utilizes all 18cores of thst one insanely powerful Xeon. In 3 months a game could come out thst is so greatly optimized but even a GTX 970 can barely hit 60fps on it. Even for 1080p games Maxxed out like GTA V the 980ti only gets around 60fps. No single card setup is made for 4k also to get a good FPS like 60 on the latest triple a games you need an SLI or crossfire setup. The 980Ti is a Maxxed out 1080p 144hz or 1440p 60-100hz depending on the game.

They dont know its optimised for gaming :P I also want to go and do something with mechanical architecture, Im in high school and already slightly does university level CAD for my classes, or something with PCs like server maintenance or maybe even help create the components that we all use! :D
