Well this totally sucks. Some poor guy brings his PC into New Zealand and customs tear the GPUs right out of his computer (without using the release tabs) just to find the gun that is part of the heatsync on his Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2 motherboard, claiming concealed weapons.

 

Total bullshit if you ask me, knowing customs here, he won't even get compensation....

To be fair there is a gun on it but they didn't have to rip the GPUs out. It wasn't like a ticking bomb. They could of taken their time or looked up how to

I agree, but they could have even just touched it and seen it wasn't a real gun.

I wouldn't ship my PC with the GPU's installed in the first place. Literally the reason I kept the boxes for them, I remove them every time I move it between houses.

 

100% avoidable by the owner, but a shitty situation to find himself in.

It's avoidable. But on the other hand, this kind of incident wouldn't have happened in the first place if the customs were competent

Their jobs are looking for anything that shouldn't be coming through the border. Their jobs don't involve PC construction, so it's not really their fault as such. 

 

Some stupid motherboard manufacturer putting the shape of a gun on it is pretty big red flag. Should have shipped their PC more carefully, to be honest.

Oh god, that hurts to look at. I'm the exact opposite of confrontational but if someone trashed my computer like that, I'd be blue in the face from all the yelling I'd be doing. Lack of knowledge about technology is no excuse, even a five year old knows that computers are expensive and that you probably shouldn't go around ripping the insides out all willy nilly. Customs should be held accountable for the damage they willingly inflicted, especially considering that it's a $400 motherboard that they don't even make anymore.
