Meizu announces the MX5

First of no it aint Mazda its Meizu but damn if this is half as good as the Mazda model, it will be the phone of the year.

MX5 (also known as the "no we did not look up to the iPhone6 in any way")(also click image for source)

Display:

  • Samsung AMOLED, 5.5" 1080p
  • PenTile Diamond structure
  • Panel Self Refresh for a 40% reduction in power consumption compared to the MX4

SOC:

  • MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 8x Cortex A53 @ 2.2GHz
  • PowerVR G6200 @ 700MHz+
  • 3GB DDR3-1600

Cameras:

  • 20.7MP Sony IMX220 sensor F/2.2
  • 5MP F/2.0 Front camera

Battery:

  • 3150mAh

Its running 5.0 with some Meizo skin. Has all the usual connectivity up to 4G/ac, 16-64GB Storage (eMMC). 

 

My thoughts:

It looks decent, the battery is great, and the camera should not be too bad either if the app is good. And for the price, its quite a nice little phone with a great screen (its probably the SGS5 1080p panel, but i havent looked it up correct me if im wrong) Im kinda concerned about 8 A53s, would much rather see a MediaTek chip with a 2xA57, 2xA53 as well as LPDDR4-2133, but oh well, cant argue with the prices...

 

Pricing:

For now the device is aimed at the Chinese market (And thus only offers limited western frequency bands) coming in at ¥1799, ¥1999 and ¥2399 (USD $290, $320, $386) price-points for 16, 32 or 64GB versions.

Exactly, when i read the title on AT i thought it was about the MX5 from mazda, and then oh well, lets run with it :P

 

BTW, best convertible sports car ever made, plus it uses the Wanker engine (Wankl, but shit)

tbh mx4 looks way better than iphone 6, meizu can atleast fit a screen in a phone. without tons of bezel that is.
