Current AMD FuryX slower than 980ti (

CoolaxGaming

29085511275l.jpg

Seems like currently, Fury is slower than the 980ti in games. However -

Our sources close to AMD have reported that any reports of performance issues at this time are pointless. We have concrete confirmation that the GPU will launch at E3 – so we have something to look forward to very soon and will get a chance to see its final performance as well.

So seems like the card may end up being faster than the 980 Titanium, though we dont know for sure yet.

Ofcourse, something that is readily obvious is the fact that AMD is still playing around with optimizing clocks and the drivers are nowhere near perfect. What that basically means is that even though the card might not be faster than Nvidia’s 980 Ti right now, that could very easily change once the final product hits the shelves

So, AMD is currently optimizing the card and the clock speed. Maybe when perfected, it might match the 980ti in performance.

If it doesent, and the price rumors are true, I can easily predict this card will be a flop.

More power consumption thant the 980ti + More Expensive + Slower = Bad

You disappoint me AMD...

I don't think wccftech is very great at this... What they say is "legit" generally means rumored by them.

Darn all these rumors are so disappointing

You aren't disappointed in AMD, you want to be disappointed with that card once it comes out so you can hate on AMD. You've already made your prejudge of the card based off of crap

thing that gets me is e3 is less than 2 weeks away, and amd still haven't finalised the card yet.

some reports have said they're still working on the bios and what was seen at computex was just a shell.

slightly alarming that this close to release they haven't even got it working yet.

I think my mind is made up, even if it is faster than a 980ti, I still don't think k I'll be disappointed with a 980ti for the cost of the thing.

Obviously if it's slower than it will be cheaper. They are not going to shoot themselves in the foot and put out a more expensive but slower than the competition card.

All we have to go on are rumours and fabrications by various websites all hoping to click-bait people into visiting their sites. Why not wait for actual numbers that are actually true before spouting nonsense like you're disappointed when you don't even have an effing clue how it'll match up against the 980ti?

It was confirmed that some fiji cards were in systems at CES a few months back, it's definetly working, things like core clock can easily be fixed last minute, even if this particular rumor is dubious at best.

1. wccftech.

2. No it's not slower. At 4096 stream processors, a Hawaii chip would be as fast as a Titan X. Fiji is 2 generations of GCN higher, at should have a higher clock as well.

Something similar to what Microsoft did with the Xbox One. They panicked at the last moment after they found out what Sony had and increased the cpu to 1.75Ghz and added Esram.

AMD is panicking here. Nvidia seems to have successfully stomped out Fiji with the 980 Ti and knew about it.

Lol you cant compare the number of stream processors.

No one knows how well or bad it will perform and we cant predict

I see it more as NVidia panicking, by releasing a cut down Titan X, at a much lower price than assumed, thus forcing a price cut on the 980, and making the Titan X irrelevant. It is not a coincident, that the 980ti was released now. Much can (and should) be said about NVidia, but they know when to launch products, and don't care how much they piss off their existing customers (it's not a coincidence either, that existing Titan X customers, suddenly got 3 free games, post buy).

You can of course compare stream processors in the same architecture. But across architectures, I agree. But when have new architectures resulted in worse efficiency?

It wouldn't be the first time that the top-tier cards perform approximately equally. Actually, that happens EVERY DAMN TIME. Both companies tune the card to be 1-5% faster than the other.

nVidia price-dropping the Titan X by 30% is a panic move.

not only is this a re-post this information has 0 basis on anything. WCCFTECH's "source" is literally "somebody close to AMD"

Random statements with nothing behind them besides "lol we know a guy"

Do i know for a fact the fiji card isn't slower then a 980ti? no...but i'll bet almost anything that neither do any of the guys at WCCFTECH.

Talk about headlines to try to pull in clicks. They even covered there asses by saying "update: remember guys this is a prototype and it could improve" that way if it turns out to beat the 980ti they'll rave about the improvement instead of being dead wrong.

It might be a repost but the other thread is locked so it's the only place to discuss it.

Personally I find the information people use to defend or attack this to be just as knee jerk and childish as anything else.  It wasn't that long ago that people where expecting us to accept tweets as confirmation DX12 is a re-badged mantle, now they want us to ignore tweets as only circumstantial.  Let's forget the rest of the article and only concentrate on dismissing or supporting the bits we like eh?

Personally I don't believe tweets unless they come from the horses mouth and are black and white, not winks or insinuations.

Fair enough, i just saw the reposts linked multiple times. didnt actually look at it.

I'm super confused though...where did tweets come from? All i'm saying is in this article all they say is literally "Our sources close to AMD have reported...."

There are two other posts about the fiji cards on the forum with sources of "an anonymous source" and the other with a source of "hearsay"

I'm just saying there's toooons of shit flying around with basically nothing to back it. What tweets are we ignoring?

EDIT: and i wouldnt find any of this as a problem but for reasons unkown people are taking some of this information to heart instead of looking at it as a piece of information that could have totally been made up on teh spot as there is literally nothing to back it.

it shouldnt be close to a 980Ti, it should smoke it..If they are simply adjusting clock speeds and its slower right now that means it can only be just a little bit better. Sadly this is probably going to be a failure :(
