Idea: PC you could literally take in the desert or army outpost. (Very high quality sturdy components, lot of dust filters, possibly military theme), $2000 with monitor, your call to include pheripherals, but with that it should be $2100-2200.

Ultimate DAW build? $3500 including a sound card, or $2500 no sound card?

What does that stand for? Digital Audio Workstation? I think many people would be hard pressed to even come up with the parts for a $1,000 sound system (but I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject).

I like it :) (although I normally hate the puke green/brown color scheme of "military" builds. Green Corsair C70 + Noctuas...)

3 things:

  1. As @Deddie said, no builds should be posted in this thread. They go in each week's respective thread.
  2. Did you just highlight, copy, and paste from your part list page? (I don't know how else you got all the pictures). PLEASE READ THE RULES/GUIDELINES! If you were to enter, use the BBCode Markup button and copy/paste that.
  3. Don't post part lists before the contest starts. The Corsair + Asus Build will happen next week, so you can't enter until that thread has been created.

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-09-08 22:59 EDT-0400)

CPU: I picked the 4770k because I'm assuming that if you price your PC out at $3000 your going to want a lot of power.

Thermal Goop: I know this stuff is high quality and it has worked for a lot of people in the past.

MOBO: Its black and green. And its a high end board made to overclock. Perfect for the $3000 budget

SSD: Samsung makes all the hardware. That means they get first pick of the components. Which is good because that means they get the first pick of the best components.

HDD: 3TB is more than enough for most people on the market. and its a 7200 RPM drive so Seagate isn't skimping out on this one. It also has 64MB cache.

RAM: I guess I designed this system to be a gaming/video rendering rig. 32GB of ram will speed up the rendering process well as reducing the the severity of lag spikes

GPU: The 770 is a fantastic card. And it looks sexy. I figured it would be perfect because of GPU Boost 2.0 and its one of the higher end cards on the market.

Case: No doubt that the Phantom line is NZXT's most popular line of cases. I'm personally a huge fan of the SSD Mounts and the built-in fan controller. especailly since this PC will feature a custom loop.

Case fans: Since this build will have a 360 Rad in it, I figured that static pressure is important to get air through the rad. And a static pressure optimized fan can't go wrong.

PSU: NZXT REALLY outdid themselves here. This is the most bang for your buck Ive ever seen. A fully-modular 700w power supply for a $100? That's insane. the only downside here is that its only 80Plus Bronze.

Optical Drive: Its an optical drive...

Monitor: Its a 1080p IPS monitor that supports HDMI 1.4 DisplayPort DVI-D. It has tilt, swivel, height adjustment and wall mounting support. I could have picked a 1440p monitor but they're so much more expensive. So 1080p will do.

CUSTOM LOOP

CPU Waterblock. If you get green LED lights in the block it will match the build theme and look good at the same time. (Note that the leds are optional)

Tubing: Amazing green tubing that is extremely kink resistant. I personally picked the 1/2 X 3/4

RAD: Its a 360 rad. Its not so thick that it looks weird.

Coolant: I see nothing wrong with using plain water if you have a kill coil and some colored tubing.

Pump: Build on the already amazing MCP650, the MCP655 uses G1/4 fittings now instead of barbs. And this version of the MCP655 has adjustable speed which is useful for taking out the air bubbles.

GPU Waterblock: I like that this one has no visible branding (that i saw at least) so it gives the card a very clean look.

RES: Small 1 5.25" bay res. Its not flashy but it is cheap.

Fittings: Compression fittings look nice. And for some reason these stood out to me.

NZXT HUE: Ive only seen 1 overview of this and I was instantly sold. SO MANY OPTIONS AND POSSIBILITIES! the lighting effects look good too like the pulse etc.

Kill coil: Keeps crap out of the loop. If it can do that Job well done.

Also a quick note. it will say there's an incompatibility. There isn't. pcpartpicker.com says that the Phantom 630 can't do E-ATX. It in fact can and I have checked nzxt.com to verify this.

This isn't supposed to be here, you have to post into this week's contest topic, otherwise you're disqualified.

A super quiet rig would be nice although it may be a bit boring for a build off.

Thanks for letting me know. but im fairly new so how do you delete a post?

You can't. You can report it to the mods (hit the report button next to multiquote), and edit it so it takes up less space.

Voting is live, but since I was late in making the poll and we have a lot of entries, this contest has been extended one week. Thursday the 19th is the last day of voting.

Vote here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/53902-build-off-week-910-green-and-grey-monster-nvidia-theme/

This is what I came up with for the Asus-Corsair 1000$ PC.

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($229.99 @ Amazon)
Thermal Compound:  Masscool Stars-700 0.5g Thermal Paste  ($1.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard:  Asus Z87M-PLUS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($134.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($66.99 @ Newegg)
Storage:  Corsair Neutron Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card:  Asus Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card  ($184.14 @ Newegg)
Case:  Corsair 350D MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($69.99 @ Microcenter)
Monitor:  Asus VE228H 21.5" Monitor  ($124.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $999.84
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Since haswell is brand new, I thought its extra 10% perfomance would be appropriate for this build. The 7870 GHZ edition is cheap and performs really well. I followed the black and gold color scheme, though I didn't have the extra 10$ to pick a windowed 350D. Could of done it without the CPU cooler though.

Wrong place, post your builds in the weeks thread. This is the overall build off thread where updates on rules and winners are announced.

i9 25.6 GHz with NeuronThreading, 256gb 6000 MHz RAM, GTX 990 OC 3024MHz 12gb, Skeletal X99 motherboard, 1 Petabyte SSD, Fractal Design Humaniod R1 Case, Herbivore 10,000W PSU, Noctua NF16 LP Derma Cooler.

Probably the only Star Citizen player who is planning on a career in Journalism instead of piracy, mining, trading, exploration, military, station management, etc.

Generation 0: The first time you see this add 1 to the number and copy it into your sig. Consider it a social experiment.

EDIT: I screwed up and posted this in the wrong spot. so this is here because if me being dumb. if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to delete a post, that would be great.

Thank you for shortening/fixing your post. You can't delete it. If you hit the report button, a mod can delete it for you.

I like both of those. I'll probably trim down the budgets though.
