The first thing that would go through my head would have been. "Should I switch the cpu out right away, because the motherboard is obviously fried."

You guys are lucky. When I was younger everyone smoked. Not just restaurants and malls, but on buses (all my school bus drivers smoked, 5 years old-16 when I got my license), you could smoke on planes, and almost everyone did, you'd have the flu, be hacking up a lung at 9 years old in a pediatrician's waiting room filled with people smoking, then the doc would come in, tell you to stick out your tongue with a depressor in one hand and a cig in the other. In 9th grade(14 for me) we could have our parents sign a paper saying we could smoke at school in the courtyard, parking lot, sports fields (pretty much anywhere outside) between classes, at lunch, during free or study periods. It was impossible not to smell like smoke.

I would guess 8 out of every 10 people I knew over 13 smoked at least 10 cigarettes per day.

Ewwwwwww...    I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke...    Just yesterday I stopped at a red traffic light and in the right lane (I was in the middle lane) was some woman with her driver side window rolled down and a cigarette in her hand.  A few seconds later I start smelling cigarette smoke in the car.  Thankfully a few seconds later the light changed green and after I continued on my way the smell dissipated before too long.

This would have been pretty standard anywhere in the US until the mid late 1990's. From Cali, too Florida, too Mass and RI where I am now. It wasn't until 2004 they stopped smoking in restaurants, then in 05 I believe they made people at bars/clubs/sporting events go to designated outdoor areas.

The further south on the east coast US the more Lax the rules get. ei if you are flying from NY and have a layover in, idk, North Carolina, they have areas inside the airport you can smoke. Restaurants have smoking and non smoking sections (There is no divider, just a different side of the room. Works great. When I was in New Orleans a couple years back you could smoke in most bars and restaurants UNLESS they had a no smoking section. The rules are all weird. I know liquor kills more people than any other drug in the world, but if you aren't driving, the chances of you killing someone else 25 years from now are quite slim.

Smoking in a car with the Windows open is no big deal to me, as long as there are no kids in the car. Kids lungs are still forming until 14-16 years old, and younger children (like I was) don't need to end up with scarred lungs for life because they are in a house/car/any semi-enclosed space with people who don't care. I'm glad kids no longer think smoking is "Cool", and 9 out of 10 adults I know over 25 wish they could quit. Some try, some don't. Maybe 1 out of every 50 that says they are going to quit actually quit. Still, it is a good sign and shows how far we've actually come in roughly a decade. I'd say just make it illegal, but this whole Freedom thing that gives us so much kinda makes that hypocritical.

Not keen on living in a world where anything that could be bad for us is taken away; ei we start living off of water and nutritional paste.

this is how a human beeing that has never seen 144Hz thinks

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.

Follow these simple rules in life, and I promise you, things magically get easier. " - MageTank 31-10-2016
