Experiences with non-techies

when I built my own computer and my dad was watching me he was amazed that you could even build a computer, when I was choosing the parts he just said "what does this do?" and I would start explaining and he would tell me to stop because he doesn't want to know.

The latest for me, is my mother calling me to ask why her computer mouse doesn't work (while shouting that it's a piece of crap and what not), when I get there, I find she managed to plug the USB mouse in the Ethernet port of her laptop.. Couldn't help facepalming in front of her.

How does that even work?!

If it fits, that's where it goes.

I prefer Domino's myself. But my mom likes pizza hut and we have to make sure we keep her happy, because she is picky as fuck.

Papa Gino>=Piezonis>Bertucci's>Dominos>Papa John>Pizza Hut>Little Caesar

Tech side. A friend could not get his computer to start after adding RAM. So I take a peak. He had SDRAM Elastic Banding the SD sticks 1/3rd in, 1/3 kinda in, 1/3 just out of the DDR 2 slots. His words as I gaped at it? "It doesn't seem to fit right, can you get it in?" I felt like I was 13 again talking to my girlfriend.

I say 480/580 if it's between the 3 gig 1060 and 4 gig 480/580. Easy choice. On the 6/8 options, if he can OC, then 480/580. If not, then he really should at least look into both, what games he is going to play/already plays. Not doing so is naive. (BTW, had a 480 8gb, returned it for a 1060 6gb, which I then returned for another 480 8gb, so I've gamed on both).

Well....this guy is

the hardest to convince you know. his words from July 2016

Quote

I am a better pc builder than you because my pc will be faster than yours

I built mine in march of 2016, he still has to build his.

I told him to go with a GTX 1060.....No man I just wanna go with the RX 480 (this was when they first came out)...

When he was planning to build in December 2015, I told him to go with a R9 390, no I will go with the gtx 970.

No matter hwat you say he will say the opposite.

When my r9 380 died he wont on this huge thing tell me that AMD is worse quailty gaming because it overheats and it hot and power hungry while picking an RX 480 vs a GTX 1060 which are the same price here really.

He seems a bit contrarian, except when it comes to sticking to his budget, as he hasn't spent a penny! Nice.

I agree. And hell he uses his words to his advantage only. Even if they are contradicting themselves. It sucks having friends like these. Think they are smart.

Why is he your friend then? You don't need to talk to people like him. People like him don't serve your time or energy.

Because all of us aren't friends. Yeah. I totally get it. We're definitely not nice creatures. We really despise each other. TOTALLY.

I mean we are SO despicable and definitely not friendly or anything.

Almost all IRL friends do not game. And so I mostly play games with online friends. I had to learn how to do this. It's not easy at first but you'll get the hang of it.

I was using the character U+200B for testing purposes, and some guy told me that he almost used 2^290 of it.
