I had a tech guy that worked for me that plugged a printer USB into the Ethernet port and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. He never lived that down. A USB cable should not fit so well into an Ethernet port.

Self-shame:

Before I got into pc building I attempted to clean the dust out of our fairly old desktop. I did so successfully, but after reassembling and turning it on it would boot but crash after a minute or two of use. I thought the gpu (which had a broken fan) was the problem, and sent it to a more techy friend. 

Turns out, that gross gray stuff I wiped off the CPU was important. I still have the pc minus the gpu sitting in my closet waiting for thermal paste.

Today I had to do some extra Computer Science work in school, and I was put in a class with 11 year olds learning about so-called "hacking".

So one time I was yelled at (Like usual) by my mother because my PC was running slow for her. She kept yelling at me because she thought that because it was going slow that I must have "installed a virus". I saw what browser she was using and saw IE9 or 10 idk. So I laughed and opened task manager to behold the 8 GB of RAM fully used by IE. I told her to use Chrome instead. Obviously the speed was night and day not having the RAM maxed. Man I love my mother for moments like this

If that would've happened, I imagine news headlines would be abound about how the Internet was non-functional for a certain amount of time. And even so, "switching off the Internet connection" is as simple as unplugging the modem, or depending on the configuration, the router.

I work as a statistical modeller. This happened this month (April 2017) with a work colleague.

He gets a new phone (Huawei p10). Has USB-C connection.

He forgets connector on first day in. Gets angry because none of the office computers have type c ports.

Goes out to Maplin, buys a USB-C to A cable. Holds it up and proclaims (not in jest) "THIS IS THE F**KING FUTURE!"

I facepalm, and show him the latest article on anandtech, which happens to be the Optane P4800X SSD (sorry I couldn't think of something more original, but hey).   

He claims he has one in his laptop (must have seen 'SSD' in the title). Sad times.

If you make a post contradicting mine that doesn't directly address my claims, or cites 'facts' without evidence, I'm probably not going to bother responding to it, because you probably didn't bother reading my post properly, and because life is too short. It doesn't mean I don't have an answer for you. It means I'm not dignifying you with a response.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

I got one for you guys. So I recently went back to work. Been unemployed since August 2015. My dad stops up there to let me know they are getting pizza hut for dinner. He then proceeds to ask me if we can call it in on his T Mobile Phone. I just shook my head. Its like you got a smart phone. You can call that shit in, Use an APP, go to the website. Pick on option. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

when I built my own computer and my dad was watching me he was amazed that you could even build a computer, when I was choosing the parts he just said "what does this do?" and I would start explaining and he would tell me to stop because he doesn't want to know.
