can you computer handle 4k60fps youtube video?

I think it's more about internet speed and youtube's server upload. Your pc is not rendering any frames really. Correct me if im wrong :)

  • Go to chrome://flags

Find the "Disable hardware-accelerated video decode" setting

Enable it

Close chrome, really close it... open your task manager to kill all lingering chrome processes.. or just restart your PC

Start it up again

Smooth 1080p@60 videos!

YouTube doesn't support 4K60fps.

If you upload in that it will be 1080p60fps

Its def not his internet.. I have 130down 10up and it still lags for me also. 1440p works perfectly fine. The video loads at 4k but its choppy.

Puts the CPU usage right up and takes ages to load with my internet, but nice and smooth (:

so it's 4K 60fps if you have a 4K display?

Nvm, they still had an old version of CHrome here on the school PC's/

The PC's here can't handle 4K 60fps but htey can handle 1440p60fps easily

Well, it takes up the same amount of CPU power whether I play it on a 1080p monitor or 4K, So I guess not.

I dont know if this is valid watching it on a 1080 display while forcing youtube to render in 4k but it was perfectly fine for me. Not a single stutter.

Update Chrome and be sure to not use the portable version

- i7-5820k@3,3GHz, MSI GTX 980 Referance, 16GB RAM.

It gives me smoothe sailing on the 4k@60FPS.

CPU hovers at 40-50% utilization @ 3,37GHz, 9-10% GPU utilization.

~90mbps needs to pause once in a while to keep up, though.

1080p@60FPS

CPU hovers at 7-8% @ 1,47GHz, 4% GPU utilization.
