Boot time increased?

So I if this is the problem, I need to refresh all the files?

How do I know this is the problem?

OK download, unzip ( make sure you unzip it to a folder) & run the program from the previous post. It will read every file it on the drive. you will get a result read speed graph with the average read speed when it is finished. It will also put an image of the result into the folder you unzipped the program into. It looks like this.

2015-01-30%2013.38.18%20Results%20for%20

This is the result from one of my SSD's. Average read speed is 227MB/s a health one should be around 540MB/s on a SATA 3 connection. Post your result on here.

So here's my problem...

I'm kind of a little (a lot) obsessed with the speed and health of my PC (and other devices).

A couple of days ago I noticed my Windows logo animation plays out to the end - where the dots put together and shine - but it didn't before (what a noob still using WIN7, ikr). At first I thought it was just a one time thing but now its regular. The first time it happened, there was one more weird thing - before it started booting in to the OS, the little blinking line was just blinking, no boot in to the OS and then I pressed DEL 2 times and almost the same moment it started booting in the OS (pressing delete could just be a coincidence). That only happened the first time, then it worked fine.

So then I wanted to make a system restore, and I tried 2 images, one from 2 days and one from 5 days ago, but none worked - there was an error message on the desktop when the OS finished booting.

There was a Windows update a few days ago and it said it was a "critical update", so could this be because of the update and nothing is actually wrong?

Is there anything wrong? Everything seems fine by the looks...

Thanks for your help and responses. :D

Is your pc acting weird in other ways then that? I would suggest you ran a deep scan with malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

Obtainable from here

https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

And do a cleanup from junkfiles with ccleaner.

http://download.cnet.com/CCleaner/?part=dl-&subj=dl&tag=button

Actual the last update from windows decreased my boottime a few seconds. Edit: Also follow your threads :P

I have avast! Antivirus Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and CCleaner.

I ran a quick scan on both softwares and I ran everything in CCleaner (all the cleanups).

I am planning on running more detailed and longer scans later when I stop using my PC if they turn up any results.

I see in your sig you have an 840 EVO. Some of these drives, including mine, are exhibiting slowdowns in read performance in old files which could be a contributing factor. Please note this occured after Samsung "fixed" the issue with the previous patch.

Download and run SSDReadSpeedTester and check your read speeds. (In the 1st post)

If it is really bugging you you can used DiskFresh to refresh the files on the drive or wait till Samsung makes attempt 2 which is due soon.

Well as your pc gets filled up with applications, it is normal for the boot to take longer. Nothing to worry about. If you have a 840 evo, there have been reports of speeds declining after a while due to a firmware bug, and Samsung is working on it.

I did some thorough scans: a long Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan, an avast! full system scan and an avast! startup scan.

Now everything is back to normal, the system boots even a little faster and the animation ends very quickly after it starts.

:D :D

Thank you for the help, I will still run an SSD speed test like @VirtualNinja directed me, just to check. Thanks for all of your help :D

Good to hear you got it sorted out. Got to be honest Avast is really bad, I have lost count of how many PC's/laptops I have had to nuke with Avast installed. Microsoft security Essentials is a much better free AV. Personally I use Kaspersky Pure this is my 2nd year on it, previously Kaspersky IS. This is the 4th year on Kaspersky and nothing has got through on 3 PC's.

Post your SSD results when you get then done.
