I hate having to post an entire topic for this, but I had no other way of finding out. I'm thinking about making a montage of all the times Luke quits.

It was a Fractal Skit. Everyone knew it was fake for 3 reasons:

1) Luke left without his shoes

2) Luke left with (LMG's) microphone still in his pocket

 

and 3) Luke has already "quit" like this several times before. To new viewers it was a bit of a nasty shock, but anyone who knows LMG's motifs knows that everyone gets fired by Linus about every other day. It's a running gag.
