I tried the Gran Turismo 6 Demo today (which you can download from Playstation Store for free). When I started it I noticed that my TV showed the input signal is 1080p. Is there any other game on PS3 that supports 1080p? Gran Turismo 5 and some others are in 1080i and most are in 720p. I just thought this is interesting and decided to share this with you. Maybe I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and post it here.

After trying out the demo earlier I'm quite sure it runs at native 1080p, as the developers said. It is definitely higher than 720p, and on really close inspection I couldn't see any signs of upscaling on my 1080p screen.

No idea how they've managed to pull it off. And it even has adaptive tesselation on a current gen console, what?!

Inb4 sony has planned obsolescence built into their consoles with a software limitation, and really they have figured out how to manufacture cheaper super high performance PCs and are planning to screw microsoft over.

oh wait.

Here's the rendering resolutions from the previous PS3 GT games:

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue = 1080p mode is 1280x1080 (2xAA) in-game while the garage/pit/showrooms are 1920x1080 with no AA. 720p mode is 1280x720 (4xAA)
Gran Turismo 5 = 1280x720 (4xAA), 1280x1080 (QAA, TAA selectable), 1280x720 (QAA) in 3D mode

Edit: I don't think this new GT will be running 1080p natively. At best it will run a sub-1080 resolution.

It is 1440x1080, and reportedly the game runs better in 720p mode, there is evidence of input latency and stuttering in 1080p mode.

I believe gameplay itself renders at 1440x1080, whilst things like car showrooms and cutscenes render at full 1080p.

Also, I played it in 1080p mode and didn't come across any really noticeable latency or stuttering issues. Infact it ran very smoothly. The new lighting was very noticeable and added a lot to the appearance of the game when compared to its predecessor I think.

Man, they are really pushing the limits of that console.  My friends 1st gen PS3 didn't work though lol.  I got the slim (GT5 edition) and it performed well, and looks great.  A bit disappointing with the slowdown/stutter in cockpit mode, especially with the improved leaning of the car.  So hope they fix that, even if it means reducing interior quality or getting ride of steering wheel (especially for those who have steering wheels lol)
