i am wondering if my cpu or even the bios needs updating, i have bought the fx 6300 2 days ago and am seeing no significant performance change also an even more alarming fact would be that the windows performance index cannot rate my calculations per second

on my cpu any help would be appreciated and thanks in advanced.

If the system is working, then yes it's compatible. What CPU did you come from? CPUs don't require software updates.

Well if your CPU and motherboard wouldn't be compatible your computer wouldn't even boot, so that's not the problem. What was your previous CPU?

What MoBo are you using?

Try to update bios and that might help.

What was your last CPU?

You likely won't notice a performance difference unless actually using the power the chip has over the x3 440.

Can you describe exactly what happens?

Have you tried a reinstall of Windows? Would expect that to be a last resort; before you do that (if you have to do that) i would test your RAM with Memtest86+, test each stick individually. Could also try booting with only 1 stick of ram and switching out the RAM sticks to see if that helps with the "double booting".

Windows performance index is a useless method of rating computers.

I agree, mine says it's 5.9 lol

5.9 just means you have a hard drive. The only way to get above that is to either have an amazingly fast hard drive or get an SSD.

yup i know, i got 2 but ones pretty slow n thats the one thats marked it down but bugger it, didn't know people pay attention to that thing
