Updated drivers, playing a game. Bam DVI no signal.

*I already posted this in displays because I'm blind as a bat and didn't see troubleshooting, sorry for double posting*

Hey guys. I'm new here so hopefully this is the right area to post this thread, if not it would be great for a mod to move it.

So yesterday I updated my graphics drivers (I'm using an old school GTX 260) from the 320.18 to the 320.49? drivers. And everything was fine, monitor worked with no interruptions. Later that night during a game of DotA my screen turned black, DVI no signal came up and I died to the tower (and apparently disconnected somehow). Initially I restarted the computer to no avail, I thought it might have been some overheating problem so I left it for a while and when I turned it on next it worked! For about a minute.

So I waited a while, thinking about what the problem could be, I assumed it was a graphics card problem so I found an old DVI from my previous monitor and used that, which also worked, for at least 3-4 hours before I decided to sleep. Woke up this morning thinking hey, it was just a problem with the cable, unfortunately with the old (new) DVI cable plugged in, DVI no signal.

So I don't think it's a problem with my DVI cable, the computer hadn't been on for 6-7 hours before I turned it on so I don't think it is an overheating problem. My next guess is drivers so I rolled back my drivers and currently it's still working. Anyone have any ideas? Or know if there is a DVI no signal problem with the 320.49 drivers? (Still confused why I would be disconnected from DotA if it is just a monitor signal problem, perhaps it's larger than that)

Thanks.

Do those come with integrated graphics on the die, or did that start with Sandy?

Looked it up. They don't.

Rollback your drivers like you said in your OP.

Could just be a bug in the drivers with that old card. Not like they focus on the older cards when updating the drivers. Generally I don't update drivers unless there is a problem with my current ones or the new drivers seem to give me new features or improvements that I actually need.

You didn't try to monitor heat while you had problems? In case the drivers screwed up the fan controller of something, overheated and shut down.

I've had problems similar to yours twice in the past, with monitor going black and no DVI signal. Sometimes no signal even when doing a cold reboot. The first time it was bad pci-e cables, card actually lost power and turned off. The second time it turned out to be a corrupted Windows paging file... of all things.
