I put together a build for me with a few friends, all of which had different opinions on what i should get, so i was really nervous to start ordering some things....

I need someone to look over my build and tell me what im doing wrong and also provide me with some advice... I'll list the parts below...

-------------------------------------------

CASE: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811139010

HDD: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822236339

RAM: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233144

PROCESSOR: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819116501

PSU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139010

GPU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130918

MOBO: read below...

CPU COOLER: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835181032

--------------------------------------------

I am having a little bit of have trouble choosing a motherboard.... As they all have 4 egg reviews on newegg.... I was leaning more toward the ASUS sabertooth z77 but i wasnt sure...

The things i have ordered so far are the PSU, the case, and the ram....

Which motherboard should I choose? This build will be used mostly for gaming...

Thanks!

Replace the 3770K with a 3570K.

Here's another 780 for you. It's MSI's Gaming N780 and it's also cheaper. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127746

Replace the 3770K with a 3570K.

I've been told that but i do have the extra money for it so why not just get it in case i get into photoshopping or video stuff... thanks for the help :)

Everything seems fine, but it says the 780 is out of stock.

The z77 is a fine motherboard, and should be very easy to overclock on.

Yup, ive been watching the 780 like a hawk... it comes in stock almost every other day for literally half an hour, then its sold out.... ive waited on buying it and they just randomly raised the price $10 so i kinda feel like i should have bought it earlier.... do you have personal experience with the sabertooth? ive heard really good things about it stability wise and i think thats what i might go with. thanks for the help :)

Get an SSD if it's in your budget.

I might actually get one because i heard it makes whatever you put on it a bit speedier... Thanks for the help!! :)

One of the issues i was told about was that everything might be a bit tight in my case... Which im fine with.... But noone actually told me if everything can fit to begin with....

Ps. Is the power supply going to be enough? I won't be doing any sli-ing so from what i heard it will be fine...

Thanks!

This is assuming you do. 3570K will still do well in video rendering and photo shop.

So I've made a new build for you. I'm guessing you're targeting around 1500$ USD as a price point judging by your other parts.

CPU: Since we're under the assumption you're going to be using this build for gaming and you're not trying to build a workstation, the 3570k is probably your best bet. 3770k would only have been a waste of money unless you KNEW you were going to put heavy workloads onto it. I have a 3770k in my system and as a photographer, I was exporting a library of 300, 18MP pictures while rendering 4-5 panoramas consisting, each, of roughly 10 pictures with itunes playing music, steam working in the background, talking with a buddy on Skype and I was hitting about 80-85% load (not OC'ed) so even if you start doing photoshop, the i5 will still laugh at most basic tasks and yields much, much better value.

Cooler: Good performer but a bit loud. (Look at the Xigmatek Dark Knight Night Hawk edition, performance is roughly the same, it's quieter and cheaper. but the h100i is a good choice anyway if you plan on overclocking, if you don't plan to, get a cheaper cooler.)

Mobo: The sabertooth is a good choice and looks cool but the z77 extreme 6 has pretty much the same features (apart from the Armor gimmicks...) for 70$ less and it has a POST led. That thing is a life saver when sh*t hits the fan. It makes it sooooooooooooooooo much more easier to diagnose problems with your parts.

Memory: Don't let the heatspreaders fool you, it's pretty much the same module so there is nothing new here.

SSD: Dude. Dude... Get an SSD. No matter what. This ssd is huge and you can put pretty much everything on there so your system will be snappy in games, programs... everything. You can choose a 240-256GB ssd to save money but 120-128 is a bit small and you'll run out of space in 2 seconds.

HDD: Faster than the blue drive. but who gives a crap really, you have a 480gb ssd main drive.

GPU: Again, value. Yes, I'm aware that the gtx 780 is awesome and kicks ass but really, are 5 more fps than the gtx 770 in bioshock really worth 250$? I think not. Really, put those extra bucks to use over on an SSD or something else.

Case: Since looks are subjective, i'll leave that to you but the 500R is a great case for the money.

PSU: Yours was a good choice so I kept it.

I hope with this advice will help you get the PC you want. Have fun building! (and sorry for the long post)

***Edit: I just saw that you had already ordered the RAM, case & PSU :P Good choices  ;)
