Posted July 3, 2013 So the BEST OC I could get on it was 1100/1500 semi stable @ 1.3V. Tested both bios's and my card has the 7970 PCB with dual 8 pin connectors. Right now it;s at 1050/1450 because its the MOST stable. Then I noticed my ASIC score was like 59. Does this actually mean my card is THAT bad? Often people RMA below 70. Specs: Core I7-2600K @ 4.5GHz @ 1.35V, 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance Black 1600MHz CL9, Cooler Master Evo 212, MSI Z77 Mpower Motherboard, Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X @ 1000/1400, Cooler Master HAF 932 Blue Edition w/ 3 Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 120MM fans (2 up top 1 in the bottom) replaced side panel with a window, and rear fan with a Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 140MM, Cooler Master GX 650 80+ Bronze PSU, Samsung DVD-RW, Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD, Seagate 750GB SATA III 7200RPM Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/32360-hd-7950-vapor-x-and-asic-quality/ Share on other sites
 I don't think you can RMA a card because it's a bad overclocker lol. the higher the ASIC the less voltage you'll need to achieve higher clock speeds. the lower the ASIC the more voltage. typically people say that 60% and under means you need watercooling to achieve a good overclock. it's the silicone lottery, you lost;sucks, but i happens to everyone eventually. try playing again with the HD 9000 series. I am gonna get 2x HD 7950's reference designs and block them both. Posted July 3, 2013 I have a reference 7950 from sapphire and mine is 71, I've seen people with my card from 58% to 85%, I guess it's all luck of the draw. Usually higher the Percentage the better overclocker the card can be.
