Issues installing Fans

Go to solution Solved by Puffhead,

And if my PSU dosen't have the ability to hold all the molex adapters?  (has 4 areas, using 3 already)

first off, thanks to everyone whos helped me with the last 2 threads, almost done with my build! :)

Either way,  I've got to install 6 fans, and my motherboard only has the pwr_fan sys_fan, sys_fan2 and cpu_fan,  (which I know is plugged into the CPU cooler)

What fans/cords go into the pwr_fan and 2 sys_fans?
Thanks!

Plug the cooler into the CPU fan header.  any other cooler fans go to the nearest system fan header.

Do you even have enough fan headers to connect all of your 6 fans?

CPU: Intel i5 3570k 4.2GHz with Corsair H100 RAM: Corsair 16GB (4x4) SSD: Samsung 840 120GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB GPU: Strix GTX 1080

PSU: OCZ 650W CASE: Fractal Define R5

The pwr_fan header used to be for old PSU that didn't have the fan connected on the inside of the PSU. I wouldn't recommend plugging anything into this header, but I don't know what that header does on a modern motherboard. The sys_fan headers are for the case fans, so feel free to plug your fans into those.

Edit: As for connecting more fans you can either get spliters that will allow for more fans per header or you can connect the fans directly to the PSU if you have the necessary converters.
The converter looks something like this: e28a5948_505a97e0_vbattach130761.jpeg

I should state that the fans came with molex adapters.

You can just use those, but they will run at full speed, if you dont want that then maybe a fan controller will be a good option or for the easy fix just get some undervoilting adapters.

Because you have 6 fans I would assume you aren't going for a silent machine in which case you really don't need any fans connected to the motherboard. I would go with a fan controller, there are many drive bay options that can make a case look great and control your fans.  Otherwise just use molex quick and easy.
