Will I receive a huge performance gain if I upgrade my 4GB RAM to 8GB or 16GB RAM would my laptop performance rise?

I'm having a issue where I play a game like "Battlefield 3" and it feels sluggish/laggy even on low settings, I have decent specs also have a i5 processor.

If I upgrade my 4GB RAM to 8GB or 16GB Corsair Vengeance Performance 1866 RAM would my gaming performance be better?
Please help me! Thinking of upgrading the RAM!

Yeah.

As for the op, more ram won't help your gaming unless you're using integrated graphics. Faster ram helps with integrated graphics. Just make sure your motherboard is compatible with that.

It won't be much of a difference though. What it will do is allow you to run more processes at once more easily.

My fault. I didn't see "laptop memory" on their website.

You won't see much benefit unless you run other programs in the background, things such as youtube videos loaded in tabs take up a lot of RAM and I find I have those up when I play games. Also, make sure your laptop supports 16gb RAM although 8 is the max you should need. But if you feel obligated to have 16 make sure your laptop supports it. My laptop supports up to 8 of 1600 only and mine has an i7

I am good at computer

I understand that and thanks for everybody has posted, I seen a video on YouTube of him gaming on 4GB, then of a video of him gaming on 16GBs.

Gaming looks like a huge difference, not sure..

4GB of ram MIGHT be limiting you. A bump to 8GB might help but not significantly.

16GB is probably overkill though.

I just bought a 16gb kit of kingston SODIMM LoVo ram... Honestly Not worth it unless your editing audio\video or photography on your laptop.

8GB is plenty enough for gaming and browsing.

I like this stuff because it runs @1600MHZ 1.35V, thus extending battery life slightly.

What laptop do you have?

most don't have the capacity to run 16gig, normaly laptops are 4 gig or 8 gigs max, also check out the specs from your laptop specs data, it will ecommend the max memory and the speed recommended, you can't just add any memory.

got to love Asus components

8GB is plenty for gaming, even on a laptop.

What you can do is use the RAM memory scanner from crucial, it checks your system and recommends what type of memory you could go for for an upgrade.  You might what to think about a SSD for your laptop to speed it up if you have the space in your laptop.
