Ok so I'm planning a new build should I go for the FX-8350 or the FX-6300 for it ?

Ill be buying from www.pccasegear.com

The FX-8350 is 229 and the FX-6300 is 139

It's a 90 dollar difference ?

What's the performance difference between the two ?

Ill be mainly using it for gaming and maybe some light editing. Also going for a 780 as a Graphics card .

Keeping my budget under. 1800 dollar AUD

I can base the rest of my build around the CPU and gpu choices and prices

Mobo is between the ASUS sabertooth 990FX R2.0 or the M5A99FX-PRO R 2.0

If you are just gaming and lightly editing, the 6300 will suit you just fine. My Dad runs a 2500k @ 4.5 which is extremely close to the 8350 in gaming performance, and there is only a 3-4 frame difference between our computers.

if your going AMD and you want to go with a GTX 780,I'd go with an FX 8320.

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))

AMD stock heatsink is actually pretty decent, it's not like the crap intel has, but then again it's no hyper 212

well considering that it was between either a 128GB SSD and a $35 heatsink or a 250GB and no aftermarket heatsink, for now, the choice felt pretty obvious to me. :P

$90 difference? loololll...

right?I was thinking, have you considered going for an 8320,more or less the same thing for $50 less.

mvtikun's list is nice, use that as a template for building your own^

glad you liked it

well true, but the one on the 6300 is kinda not  good ... but yeah this is a 8320

With that good a graphics card you would be fine with a FX6300 and spend the saved money on a good cooler or the Sabertooth R2.0 (gen 3)

honestly this seems to me the equivilent of spending $800 on a graphics card and then buying an i3 for the processor.

it's plain stupid.

if the person can afford an 8 core then obviously a faster and better chip, but i don't know what this person can afford, we all build to a budget,

I see you have an 8320, what is the cooling like on this chip, it might help if the person find out what temps and cooling system is ideal for the 8 core vs the 6 core.

got to love Asus components

lol I don't have an FX 8320,not sure why you think I do.

and he said his budget was 1800 AUD,I picked the parts for OP as a suggestion and it added up to 1792 AUD

Well, the spec for my 2nd rig is as follows:

AMD FX8350 @4.5ghz

CoolerMaster Hyper 412Slim (replaced crap stock 'Slim' fans with a 120mm Corsair SP Performance fan)

Asus Crosshair V Formula

4x 4GB RipJawsX 2133mhz

2x GTX670 in SLi mode

Corsair HX1050 PSU

64bit Win7 Pro Sp1

This rig handles everything I've thrown at it, and I play most FPS in SP mode - UT3, BF3, BF BC2, MoH, MoH Warfighter, Metro Last Light, FC3, FC3 Blood Dragon, etc - and it handles these games with ease. I also do a fair bit of ripping, and this CPU is pretty good at ripping. A decent 3rd party cooler is needed if you intend to OC.....I'd gotten 4.5ghz stable with a slight voltage bump from 1.35v to 1.375v. The FX8320 is a good OCer by all account, but may require more volts to push pass 4ghz.....

Main Rig: AMD AM4 R7 5700X3D (8C/16T) + TR Phantom Spirit 120 EVO | Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme | 2x 16GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 3600 | XFX MERC 310 RX 7900 XTX | 256GB Sabrent Rocket NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen 3.0 (OS) | 4TB Lexar NM790 NVMe M.2 PCIe4x4 | 2TB TG Cardea Zero Z440 NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4x4 | 4TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD | 2TB Samsung 860 QVO SATA SSD | 6TB WD Black HDD | CoolerMaster H500M | Corsair HX1000 Platinum | Logitech G915 + G303 Shroud Ed + 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4G | iFi Micro iDSD Black Label | Philips Fidelio B97 | C49HG90DME 49" 32:9 144Hz Freesync 2 | Omnidesk Pro 2020 48" | 64bit Win11 Pro 23H2

You guys are absolute legends !

But umm

A full Tower case will never fit under my desk D':

Maybe a corsair ATX case ?

C70? Hmmm

I don't really need the sabertooth so ill stick with the M5A99FX-PRO 2.0 and with the money I save there maybe I can spend the extra money on a 8350?

8320 is apparently the 8350 chips that are binned because they aren't as good for overlooking

they are ever so slightly worse.

unless you plan to try to break records just go with the FX 8320.

use the money saved from the sabertooth and buy a heatsink.

also the fractal define r4 is a mid tower, not a full tower.

though if you prefer feel free to go with the c70.

I'm going to try to aim for 4.6GHz for the CPU

And after that I'm going to try and go higher. I'm hoping to have some money for a H100i or H80i

Yep, if you want to go for 4.6ghz, then yes, you'd stand a better chance with an FX8350 than with an FX8320.

1st do not get the 6300 if you want a 6 core amd go for the 6350, that is a higher binned chip, and should even overclock better

2nd 8350 is the flagship, and will help you in the future, 8320 is nice, but past 4 ghz you will need quite a bit more voltage to keep it stable, just get a decent heatsink and you are all set

3rd Future games and applications will use 6-8 cores so you might be better of with an 8350 in the long run!!!

A reason a lot of people choose the 6300 over the 6350 is the power comsumption, the 6300 is 95w and the 6350 is 125w

there is a little difference in price and yes the 6350 is faster at stock speeds, so its all depends what cooler you have and if you want a 95w or 125w cpu.

got to love Asus components
