If you had to choose between these 2...?

equippedbum

Shure SE846  OR Sennheiser HD 800...

I'm going to get one of these...I'm not considering where I'd use either because I generally listen to music at home.

Opinions?

Hands down, HD800's. I like headphone much more than earbuds and the 800's are the best you can get from Senny.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

They're different things with their own purposes. It's like asking, 'which one should I wear, this T-shirt, or this boxer?'. They both fall in to 'clothing', but different things with different purposes.

IEMs are aimed for portability (super portable), practicality, and discretion. Headphones are aimed for comfort and more laid back uses. If you're using it at home, then yeah, headphones should be better.

On a side note, tried/auditioned SE846, and honestly, nothing really special. Sounds good, but that's about it. IMO it's not worth the 1 grand price tag (amazon price). If you got the chance, try/audition JHAudio Roxanne or Fitear. They're above 1 grand, but man, those 2 are the best IEMs I've ever experienced in my life...
