I just built up my pc only to have it flash on then right back off again. I tried pulling everything out of the case and just plugging in the ram, cpu, and 24 pin and 8 pin power but it still does the same thing.

Parts:

I-5 4670k

gigabyte g87 ud3h

corsair h100i

corsair vengeance pro 2133

evga 650g psu

possibly a PSU problem? for a friend of mine when he would turn on his pc it would shut off them turn on. a few days later his psu burnt out so if you have a friend who can let you barrow his psu for a day to see if that makes an changes. That would at least start shorting the list the potential issues.

Could I use an older psu from an ivy-bridge system, because that is the only other psu I can get my hands on?

im assuming both psu's are standard atx and if the wattage is high enough you can use any pus thats working and you can get your hands on.

PSU may be malfunctioning, or the board is shorting out. Can you take your PSU (and all connectors out) and jump start the PSU?

The power supply is good then. Is the motherboard mounted properly?

Currently it is on a box out of the case

Have you tried turning it on outside the case?

Attempt to use the other stick in slot one, unless you've done that as well.

Is the motherboard damaged in any way? The motherboard isn't functioning properly - will require a replacement.

Take everything out and re do the whole system. make sure the thermal paste is applied correctly. This happened to me the first time I built my rig. Just re do the whole thing and make sure you have everything put in correctly

Rubber things? My case didn't come with any rubber things to put on the standoffs.
