I do not care much about Moot, but I just want 4chan to stop existing, NOW!

It was decent for maybe the first few days after the server went live, but after that it went south into hell. "true anonymity" (which it really isn't) brings out the absolute worst of people, and very little of the best. This is basic psychology; under a mask, the human temptation to do as they wish, with disregard for laws and common sense increases tenfold.

You know 4chan started as an anime board, right?

And that 4chan is a law abiding website that cooperates with the police?

And that 4chan does more good things than bad things?

Remember how they tracked down an animal abuser and gave their information to the police?

How they help the police find pedophiles?

No you don't, because you choose to only believe what you want

I am not going to a full-blown argument over this, but I suggest you read over my previous post another time over. Honestly, none of what you said has actually addressed my point in the slightest.

what is this SJW u speak of

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4

I do not deny that they did all that, but as I said, the anonymity serves as a catalyst for people to engage in activities harmful for society, even if it technically complies with international law. As the old saying goes, "it is so easy to do a bad thing, and yet it is so hard to do a good thing in it's place"; and the image-board is not helping the scenario for the better.

Yes 4chan has done great things, but you can also say the same to just about every dictator in history. It does not make them a good person in general, by definition.

Except that argument is categorically wrong. 4chan is in general a good place. There are some pedophiles and criminals here on this forum, does that make this forum a bad place that should cease to exist?

The difference is that LTT is a friendly and welcoming environment. LMG may be more lax at it than other forums, but there are still very clear cut rules set in place. The worst you will deal with is an argument over petty opinions, which happens rather frequently, but that is another matter.

Whereas in 4chan, the rulings are completely dependent on the goodwill of the users. Outside of outright CP, the moderation has been horribly slow. There are times where I actually want to see what is actually happening at the site. I could go to any non-/b/, non-NSFW sub-board, and the first page is still crammed with questionable (although strictly legal) content. That turns me off, and the same happens for most other people, who have a remarkably high social standard. In this context, it does not need to be CP to be blacklisted for such people; often times, borderline nudity is enough. There is not really an environment to set, it is basically the wild-wild-west over there.

Isn't that exactly the frame of mind that terrorists have in their head when they kill innocent people?

Isn't that exactly the frame of mind that terrorists have in their head when they kill innocent people?

That is a bit of a false analogy, because if that is true, a good portion of people in the world would classify as terrorists, although the term is not applicable.

It is not because I dislike 4chan, it is because it fails to accommodate the legitimate social needs of a lot of people, and completely rejects them. Some have little to no tolerance of cursing, let alone insulting terminology. Some people are uncomfortable about the idea of public nudity, or anything that resembles it. I could go on and on, but at the end of the day, they have high social standards, and it is our obligation to respect that. Throw those people into the image-board, and I guarantee you that they will feel personally insulted by the "this is the internet, who the f**k cares??" mentality rampant in there, and that is thanks to the catalyst of anonymity.

I do not want to derail here, but the terrorists are largely of a singular mindset. General society is an aggregation of many, many mindsets. Terrorism is completely incomparable to the situation of 4chan.

But 4chan isn't a social network, it's an anime image board, why the hell does it have to accommodate people's social needs?

Social needs are things such as community and belonging, which are still provided by 4chan.

They reject people that don't fit in. That's how society works everywhere, if you didn't realize. And if people are uncomfortable with nudity, don't go onto the boards that allow nudity. It's that simple.

And so what if people would be insulted? Insulting people isn't illegal

I believe we have gone on for long enough. We have significantly different angles to the same matter, and the discussion is pretty much fruitless if we cannot understand each other's POV.

So we can agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I still think 4chan is the best place to talk about video games. Just gotta know when and were to look on the site to do it. On places like Neogaf so much is given to people with high post counts or standing in the community. I got a 4 week ban when I said how silly it was when peoples first question to a dev of a PS4 game was "How will you use the POWER of the GDDDRRRRDDDDRR4 Ram". While I love it here on LTT we don't have a huge collection of gaming conversations. On 4chan the other night I got into a thread about Suikoden, tons of art was posted, plot discussion, game analysis. I just don't see other sites having that next level conversations.
