What comes next? GTX 1080?

Going by what they have been calling their processors in tablets and the Shield it will probably be called something along the line of Nvidia Pascal K1

They'll rename it.

CPU/GPU manufacturers aren't afraid to fuck around with naming schemes.

It's actually kind of funny how both AMD and Nvidia skipped using "8xx" or "8xxx" naming schemes.  Market research must say that they don't want people getting confused with decade old GPU's.

I have an gtx 860m lol

They should reset the numbers, but change "GTX" to something else.

They'll probably go 1000 Series like GTX1080, and then people will think that GTX 1080 is a GPU for 1080p :D LOL. I hope at least Pascal doubles the performance of GTX 980 which I got now.

If they're looking at buying a gpu, i'm sure they'll have enough computer knowledge to know the difference. Unless it's a family member buying a card as a gift.

Signature unda construction... in the meantime. Tell me more about yourself. I'm sure you've got an interesting story.

4 digits, then 3. Maybe they'll go with 2 digits for the next run.

They better not be double the performance of the GTX980 that will make my Titan X SLI seem like a weak setup.

How about 1700,1800 and 1800ti? I think Its the perfect.like intel chipset from z97 to z170 they added zero to end. And after 1000 series go to 2700,2800 and 2800ti. :)

What they could do is do something like this:

P-X10 for the flagship. P-Z with numbers between 7 and 9 for the cut down versions of flagship and next tier down (ala GTX 960 and up). Then you'd have P-M for the mainstream cards, with numbers varying from 3 to 6 (ie OEM cards and GTX 950 equivalent). Then P-V with 1 and 2 being the lowest end value segment.

The initial letter, like the "P" (Pascal) in this case, would change to reflect the next architecture name. The value segment could be branded as Pascal or future architecture generations, but with older cores like the usual modus operandi.

Examples for Pascal:

GP100 = P-X10

GP104 (?) = P-Z9

And for Volta:

GV100 (?) = V-X10

GV104 (?) = V-Z9

Or, cut down variants of the flagship card (like the 980 TI) could be denoted as just "P-X10", with the actual fully featured chip being labeled as "P-X10 TI". Or the opposite.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

I'm expecting it to be called the GTX 18.

Last time they ran out of 4 digit numbers they started over at Gtx 280. I doubt we will see a repeat of skipping 1** so yep that's my bet..

I want it to be GTX 1080.

I have a 1080mm radiator, and saying I'm cooling my GTX 1080 with a 1080 rad would be 10/10
