Spam protection on LTT

We need something of spam protection. With like u can only post 1 thread in 5 hours. 

 

Any other thoughts pls comment. 

 

Edit: not 5 hours but u know what i mean.

Maybe a system that scans through each subsequent post from a user for obvious similarities?

i think there should be A CHATPA or whatever its calle when ever u make a thread

If there is a filter for scanning this specific "+91" It'll be awesome!

Five hours is a little excessive don't you think?

 

Agreed. Even 15minutes is enough to make these guys go away or/and be banned.

How do you think all these people have 10,000+ posts? If they had to wait 5 hours then everyone would have ~100 posts lol.

 

I don't think that should be the way around it. Even 15 minutes is too long. Sometimes you have conversations with someone in off-topic and you just go back in forth in a matter of minutes/seconds

 

I don't know how else you would look for spam though..

Or maybe like.. Make a time limit on making threads, where for a certain amount of characters you have a minimum time limit of 5 minutes in the thread creator before posting or something, so they can't just instantly spam a bunch.

 

 

I'm sure there's something that could work, IDK tho.

Or have mod approval for your first thread (if they don't have that already. I know Head-Fi had it. And when I posted my first two external links on there they had to approve those too), or a combination of both 10 post count AND mod approval

Hey man, I just like, wanna be the one voice of like humanity & communal spirit on this thread and like totally bring up the fact that speech (text) is only good when it can be freely had by all. Like, what is there to be gained by restricting someone else freedom bros? If a seedling is going to blossom into a flower, it needs to be nurtured man, not stomped out. Besides my brothers & sisters, can't people just be reported and then later kicked by the admins?

I know that there are good guys, but there are also very bad guys on the internet. And maybe u dont know but this guy with the +91 threads is here for almost 2 months every day spam spam spam. This forum is about tech and not how u would be sucked and u need too call a +91 number. There must be some kind of security that this doesnt happen any more.

Spam doesn't do anything more than annoy you. Report and ignore, letting the moderators deal with it is easy enough for me.

This has been discussed a lot in the Forum Suggestions thread, but we basically come back to the same issue - these spam protection methods will negatively affect new legitimate users.

There are tons of new users that come to the forum to ask a question, and if we required them to make a certain amount of posts before they can make a thread, then these users would most likely just leave to go somewhere else.
