Update 5!

I have decided to use my Gigabyte Z97N-Gaming 5 motherboard instead of the EVGA Z77 Stinger which currently lives in Pseudechis Porphyriacus. A couple of reasons for this.

1) Gives me access to use the i5 4570k I currently have in the build that had the Gigabyte MoBo installed (Media PC).

2) I actually have some plans for Pseudechis, so I don't want to rip it apart entirely.

Attached to the Gigabyte Z97N-Gaming 5 was 8GB of G.Skill DDR3 RAM @2133MHz, though I don't expect to run it at this speed in Vulpes!

I took the heat sink off of the board and sprayed it matte black as the stock red from the Gaming series is very vibrant and would clash HORRIBLY. I also went ahead and installed the EK Monarch RAM modules and the corresponding CSQ RAM block, and I love it!

Enjoy!

Update 6!

As promised, I've taken some photos of the radiators that have now been painted. Also installed some fittings to do some testing and check out the colour. Spoiler: I love it!!

Here they are, let me know what you think :)

Forgot to mention that the old PC is in the post now, coming in from Australia so the GPU should hopefully arrive soon!

Have updated the front page to match the new parts.

Also, my old PC has now arrived in the country and should (hopefully) be delivered tomorrow. Might have time in the evening to run some tests and begin installing the remaining blocks and switching the GPU across.

Fun times ahead!

Mini Update!

Just started planning some of the tubing routes, though nothing is confirmed yet as I'm still waiting for too many integral parts to finalise anything. Thoughts?

Update 7!

My old PC, Pseudechis, arrived a couple of days ago from Australia and I went to town on it, stripping it. Some minor damage occurred during shipping but it was mostly fine. Have emptied it and taken what I need for Vulpes, as you can see below. The most important item was the GTX 690, which is HUGE. Really, I forgot how big that card is and it makes me really glad I opted for the extended case.

I actually have some new plans for Pseudechis, so stick around for that, but in the meantime I'll be continuing work on Vulpes, aiming for completion in 1-2 weeks :)

In other news, I just bought a Nikon D3300 which I'll buy a lens for tomorrow, so this should be the last of the "potato" pics :D

I bought a new camera... Finally!

It's a Nikon D3300, and is my first DSLR so I'm pretty clueless, learning as I go along so don't bash me too hard on the pics; I promise to improve.

Here are some pics I took:

Final order has been placed, with parts hopefully arriving on the weekend/Monday. Included will be all the parts required to complete the build, minus the cables which still need sorting out.

All will come together soon :)

New arrival!

Received a nice delivery of bits and bobs today, basically all I need to bring my PC on the bring of completion, needing only custom cabling to finish it off.

Anyway, I want to get to building and release another update later this evening, so I'll just leave these here.

Lots and lots of 10/12mm HD tubing from EK

Nice 120mm fan grill, to be painted.

Sleeved SATA 3 cable

Enough Mayhem's pastel orange to make two litres. Won't need it all.

Update 8!

Have finalised my tubing layout just as I want it, and mounted the GPU to the base of case. The res is exactly where I want it, but isn't mounted securely yet... still working on how I want to achieve that.

The PCI-e riser necessary for achieving the vertical GPU mounting is en route, but its arrival time is up in the air.

All fan grills are mounted, but cable work hasn't really started yet. I'm looking to get that all sorted out by next weekend, but work is busy so not sure how much time I'll have!

Until next time, enjoy these photos!
