Think I am seeing something similar with a pair of 6870's and a core i5 - none of them doing particularly well - going to pause the GPU folding and see if the SMP boosts up...

I'm currently running a 3770k with only iGPU, is it better to fold with only CPU or both CPU and iGPU?
You can try both. :)

Just joined, but only running it on my cpu. GPU currently runs too hot maxed out and really warms up the room.
Have same issue with some of my older cards.

Remember, all the various stat pages can take from a minimum of 1 hour to more then 3 hours (on the fastest of them) to get updated with your points...

When I get home today after work I'm going to go ahead and toss together a folding computer. Is it better to use windows if you are going to toss in a GPU for more folding power? (I'm a folding noob)

Yes - as far as I know, the Linux version only does SMP, but is a bit better at it. For GPU folding, need the Windows client.

I bet if they let HAL fold for a day then it would do all the folding that all the current folding machines do in a year. Then people could actually turn off their computers and save the planet by not wasting power by leaving their computer on.

Only things that HAVE to be constantly on should fold such as servers. People that leave their computer on overnight just to fold are doing more damage than good because of the power wastage.

However, for the people who already leave their computers on overnight, it won't be doing much more harm because it will only be taking up a little bit more power. For those people, it would be beneficial.

Don't have the most powerful computer, but helping nonetheless.
Everything helps! Even though everybody says that, it truly does help even if your computer isn't good!

Who leaves their computer on overnight? Servers and offices excluded. Thats just a god damn waste of electricity.

Are we going to set the homepage link on the team stats page to the LTT forum? It's just kinda annoying that it links to nowhere.

So long as I can still use my computer pretty much the same as I do on a day-to-day basis, I'll happily join in.

Pretty much most everything else will run normally - just sometimes there are issues if you want to do something intensive, like gaming. In those cases you can always Pause your folding and then Resume when done. I surf, read email, even watch HD movies without issue. I am also able to play World of Tanks with only about a 5fps loss. :)
