It's an SSD that works well but honestly any other SSD will give you similar performance.

It's pretty good. You can look at some benchmarks and load times of certain applications, but other than that there's not much else to say with my experience.

Have had mine for a couple months with just OS and a few games. Definitely a large improvement. Out of box ran like  440 MB/s. I put it in maximum reliability mode and it got 364 read 372 write, still really fast.

I have an 840 EVO aswell, and it's good. I would recommend it. Extremely fast boot with RAPID technology.

NO!?!?

 

OT: I have an 840 as well, and....it's an ssd, there really is nothing to say about it other than it's fast, like any other ssd. It's faster than my older Crucial M4 (three years old~), but its only really a noticeable difference if you compare the two side-by-side.

I hope this hardware+free game becomes popular, i know gpu's do it already, but more hard should start doing it, it might make a difference.

I was looking into getting the 840 PRO 250GB for my new computer build. Is there enough of a difference between the EVO and PRO to stick with the PRO. I currently only use a 1TB Hard Drive that is 5 years old on my PC so really anything I get now is going to be faster, thinking about saving some money and just going for the EVO.

Not at all.

 

I tried rapid mode with mine and it was causing this weird issue that drove me MAD.  As soon as I started up a game (any and every), it would instantly minimize my game.  INSTANTLY.
