Microwilli
Go to solution Solved by BroKenFingers,

there are lots of hits about the trouble you are having..you are not alone. Some say clean the crud ( favorite tech term ) from all the USB ports..others say it is a MB to case short..

.do you have a PS/2 KB to try ?

.there is a jumper for ..power to KB ..what ever that means..

Sorry this looks like one of those "try this and see what happens.."

Keep at it..have you tried with the OB GPU only..?

hey there,

ive just built my lan pc with my old parts:

Greetings from Canada..

You have this error : USB over current status  detected

Do you have this from your operating system or from a game or from the POST screen ?

Would like to know what OS you use, what USB devices you have this error with, and the exact Motherboard from ASUS you have..

Does this cause the computer to stop, or to freeze, or to just be a pain..

Ok..have you reset your BIOS..?

Do you have your manual.? ..there are 2 sets of jumpers that set the system to wake up with USB inputs..have a look at these, will not hurt to change what is there..just to see what happens..

This was before the Windows 8 was installed..?

yes ive reset my bios

i allready changed around the jumpers didnt make any diffrence

the mainboard did work with windows 8 until i tried to build my lan pc with the gtx 260 wich i didnt use before i ordered it on ebay but on my gigabyte board it works all fine so its a mainboard issue i guess

it cant be a case-board short, i allready tried it outside of the case as said

unfortunately i dont have a ps2 keyboard

o.O i dont think there is a jumper like that i only see 4 and ive changed them around as i said

no problem at least i get help from somebody ;)

ove tried onboard allready... all the same :(

well im not even gettin a post screen like wheres shown the name of the board and how to get into bios and stuff it jumps strait to the screen with the error, thats the screen btw where is displayed when you dont hav your cpu fan plugged in correctly for example

..Where it says.."Hit F1 to continue"..?..If so then that is a POST screen..just before your system looks for a bootable drive..

...look in the upper left hand section on your MB..on the edge of the board in line with the PS/2 KB and PS/2 mouse connector..this is where the power to KB jumper is said to be..jumper over pins 1-2 is default +5v

Anyway..a USB to PS/2 adapter may allow a USB KB to be used, away from the USB ports..but that still may not fix the trouble..have you had a chance to inspect each USB port for damage..including any USB MB headers for bent pins..?

no only the error is shown. its like the screen turns on and the error appears and it says no keyboard detected even if i have plugged in one :(
well there was a slightli bent pin but that wasnt the issue and i tried it with the jumper allready i tried it with 5vsb and 5v+

but for some reason even ma main pc has an error now its not able to find any drives while booting and the blinking underscore in the top left corner :(

i guess i have a bad luck day today :(

okay i guess the issue with my main pc has solved itself :D

Main system is OK !!

LOL...phew..had me worried that all the magic smoke had left your systems....

Well..lets pull all the PSU cables, pullout the CMOS batt.for 10 min.reconnect all power cables..but NO USB devices..and reboot.

IF that is still a no go ..you may need to swap in another PSU , and check that..

tried it allready :( but the other psu i have is the same :D because i got 50 percent off one so that wouldnt make a diffrence :D

thats the reason why i ve got an 850 watt psu in my lan rig ;)

but odly enough the board doesnt shut itself down when no cpu installed ( but i dont get a post either )

and the problem with my main pc appeared again now i cant hit f12 because the f keys arent detected but i can get in the bios. and sometimes the pc starts but i get a no post and the gpu fan just randomly ramps up and down every 10 seconds or so o.O

I do not know of any am3/am3+ mATX boards off hand..they all seem to be pushed aside for the FM2 package these days...I could only see a few ASUS boards on the Newegg sites..but they used the 970 chipset..You want the am3/am3+ for your CPU..?

of course because i want to use my old cpu and so i dont have to buy a new one

i know there are not very many but i took a closer look at the gigabyte 78mnt-s2p or something like that its the one with the better vrms and the heatsinks its like 50 euros here the only problem is, that its only a 780 chipset :/

That is what I have found as well...not very many around and what is there..well not the best specs..May have better luck with a ATX form factor..?

Had a look for that Gigabyte board..only thing I saw was a 68mt...but that has a nVidia chipset...something to avoid..
