Want to upgrade to either gtx 770 or r9 280x around black friday but im worried about bottleneck issues, should i be?

there might be a bottleneck not sure but get which ever is cheaper at that time for the gpu's

Yeah, you could experience about 25% or more performance loss is some cases due to the low IPC of the processor, depending on what your current GPU is it might be better to upgrade your CPU/motherboard first.

i have a 5770 right now and i just want to play newer games at higher details.
