Most powerful laptop for $500?

What is the most powerful laptop my brother can get for $500?

It doesn't need to have a touchscreen, raw performance is priority in this case.

He will be playing some games on it, mainly because he doesn't have a desktop PC for now.

Budget is sorta tight, as he is in university right now.

What is the best laptop he can get?

"Nope, said the engineer"

Probably not one with a dedicated GPU so gaming on it will be quite limited.

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

You could get a much more powerful desktop for that price with dedicated graphics.
