1600x900 resolution outputs 1680x1050

i use a full hdtv and play most of my games at 1600x900 to get a good appearance-performance ratio because my gpu isnt that good and my tv upscales it to 1080p which makes the colors look nice and vivid but i can tell because the text still looks the same.

i recently downloaded the new AMD Catalyst Control Center 14.9 driver and the most recent Windows 8.1 x64 based system updates (as of the date this thread was published) then when i reboot my system and opened one of my games the resolution was at 1680x1050 (my tv showed the resolution at the top corner) instead of upscaled 1080p. in the game it showed that my resolution was set to 900p but the output i got was 1680x1050 instead. so at the desktop i changed my screen resolution from 1080p to 900p to check if it was the game but yet again the output my tv sent was 1680x1050. and its a poorly upscaled 1680x1050 as well because the colors look washed out and dull

i tried setting the resolution to 1680x1050, it was still 1680x1050.

it happened sometime after i installed the updates but i still dont know if its the new driver or the windows update messing around with my tv but it definitely wasnt like this before. basically i cant play my games at the resolution i used to anymore.

Please help!
