If you could make your dream motherboard, what would it be like?

Mine would be called the Asus ROG DarkFire Extreme ( X99 mobo).Basically all black with the best of the ROG and WS board stuck into one:

Quad-SLI/Crossfire at 16x/16x/16x/16x though dual PLX chips ( like the WS board) regardless of CPU

20 SATA ports ( Got this idea from the Asrock X99 Extreme11 which as 18 O_O)

12 Rear USB ports with Dual Intel LAN and 1300mbps wifi

ECC and Xeon Support ( Unlocks Xeon for overclocking- imagine overclocking the 18 core one to 4+Ghz on liquid nitrogen on this board :))

12K Capacitors ( like the WS) along with the ROG OC features to take overclocking to the next level

Fully customisable 16.8 Million colour RGB lighting on motherboard to suit any build

upto 128GB 3300+Mhz RAM

Revised OC panel that has all buttons accessible by hanging down from the bottom 5.25inch drive and having an elongated display thickness

SupremeFX Audio 2014 using Creative Quad core chip (those two partnering would be cool)

All in an EATX form factor and for $<400

Do you guys think that this would be the ultimate gaming motherboard and would u buy it if it was a reality?

I would like to know, what would your dream motherboard be ( nothing unreasonable though)

thanks

It's the easiest... A lot of boards have a mix of this, they just add in colors to make people happy

Pretty much the Asus Maximus VII Gene but with the front panel audio connector not on the daughter board, with 3 PCI-e slots in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th position and PCI-e x1 slots in the 2nd and 4th position. Plus a swap of all rear USB 2.0 ports to USB 3.0. Oh and a few more 4 pin fan connectors.

An H97 replacement for this, so that I could run a low-power Celeron in my Dell with the same cooling design. This would need to be similar in design to the ASUS ROG boards, and be made by ASUS.

Then I'd need to have a replacement power supply too.

ATX, and all black. Any LEDs should be white. A simple industrial design would be nice. No silly gimmicky gun designs, circular heatsinks, dragons, eyeballs, or stickers.

Maybe also a Micro-ATX board in the same style, and with enough space between the CPU and first PCI slot to fit a 150mm wide CPU heatsink.

Dual CPU

128 GB ECC RAM at up to 3000 MHz

Support for both Quadro SLI and Nvidia Maximus (Can you imagine Dual K6000s each with their own Tesla K40?)

A bunch of SATA 6 Gb/s ports. Maybe 8?

4 SATA Express ports

On board RAID controller with its own processor with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and JBOD with support for both hot swap and a hot spare

A PCI slot that won't be blocked by the 4 GPUs. (I can't part with my Xonar ST... Although I suppose if I had the money for this, I could afford a better, PCIe sound card anyway... But still)

Built in wireless AC

dual Intel gigabit Ethernet

A PS/2 port

2 thunderbolt ports

A Firewire 800 port (I need it for school)

A boat load of USB 3 ports.

A few USB 2 ports

With the aesthetic of the X99 Deluxe

All in a non propriety for factor. Maybe SSI CEB? None of this crap: http://goo.gl/eXtYfs

Haha, I'll keep dreamin'! But I would love to see a good work station board that blends WS features like dual CPU, Quadro SLI support, etc with rich gaming features like powerful overclocking and some good looks, because green PCBs don't do it for me. Like I said, I'll keep dreaming!
