Is this cooler really that bad?

FuzzyYellow
Go to solution Solved by TinoXtreme,

It will serve it's purpose well. It's not a bad cooler.

I am looking at getting a gpu within the next month or so, but i really want to keep it under $130. is the cooler on this r7 265 really bad enough to justify spending $10 more on this one?

i looked at a review for the blackout one, and it doesn't cool VRMs or memeroy anyway, so i think i might just get the first one. (still gotta save more money)

Don't get either, XFX are cheap for a reason. Spend the extra money and get the better Sapphire card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202096&cm_re=r7_265-_-14-202-096-_-Product

at that point, i could get an r9 270 for the same price. Link

And XFX is the only AMD card manufacturer to give a lifetime warranty with their cards. ;)

Then hands down get the 270.

I've had that XFX card in 6870 form and it was horrible. The cooler wasn't mounted properly out of the box, and after two years the fan started rattling like hell every time it or the PC was moved, due to the bearings going bad. XFX didn't honor their warranty. Why?

Because their warranty is no longer lifetime. Only two years, just like any other AMD vendor. http://xfxforce.com/en-us/support/xfx-warranty

I didn't know about xfx canning their lifetime warranty thing. That sucks. :(

Edit: XFX only offers lifetime warranty on certain models of gpu. So stupid.

Those coolers are probably pretty close to being functionally identical. If you're going to pay more for a cooler, it should be one that's obviously much better. Like Gigabyte's, MSI's, or Asus's coolers big 2-3 fan coolers.

Very smart choice. Weirdly, the 270 is the same GPU as the 270X with nothing physically cut off of it, so really its just a simple overclock away from literally being a 270X.
