Is the RM Series™ RM650 a durable psu

Go to solution Solved by SeanBond,

Nope nope buy the evga supernova g2. 750W is the same price and it's better. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=380

10 year warranty....pfffft sold. Bought myself one.

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story4&reid=363

for comparison. It really makes no sense why the g2 is so good and so cheap. At it's price there is nothing else better you can get.

I am currently considering the RM Series™ RM650 for my first pc build. The thing that i liked is the 0 RPM fan mode under low load and low noise in general. However i have seen mixed reviews on the internet like the psu is not durable and dies in like 6 months or that the fan spin goes straight from  0 to 100% over a small temperature change.Since i am buying quality products from my next build , i am looking for a durable(i.e last for 4-5 years) , quiet , fully modular psu with great build quality

Am i with the right PSU(if so please state your experience with RM650) or i should change for a better one.Corsair don't have a store where i live so an RMA is out of question and that's another reason why i am looking for a psu with great build quality

Regards

Just go for a SeaSonic one, you will 100% not regret that decision

I'm sorry, but the RM series (and most Corsair PSUs) have terrible cables and are cheap on the inside

Compatible with Windows 95

Well the OEM is CWT... It wouldn't be my first recommendation let's put it that way.

Personally, I'd recommend a PSU made by Seasonic if a RMA is completely out of the question.

I don't think. Corsair has quality.

Corsair RM 650/750/850 does not beat the EVGA G2 750/850W. The G2 PSU's are simply damn near perfection and the RM series is not. Jonnyguru gave the G2 a 9.9 and the RM about 8.9-9.0

The AX series are very good PSU's but way too expensive for the money. The EVGA G2 750/850W reign supreme over those by the sheer price.

I'm have a Corsair CX600W PSU, and apperently, the CX series is lower quality then RM. My PSU is 3 years old, I'm having a rig that pulls more then 500W and it works perfect. I know 3 years is not a long time, but I'm just saying, its still works perfectly.

The AX is a perfect 10 in everything but value. Sorry Recon but in terms of quality the AX matches or surpasses the EVGA G2

I think it's hilarious that the RM650 has roughly the same, if a tad more ripple at 150W as the g2 750w has at 750W. And they are the same price? and the g2 has a 10 year warranty. Umm...how does corsair sell those psu's?

Come on, Corsair isn't that bad. EVGA PSUs aren't available here, and the CX500M is fine for my rig.

Dude, even Jonnyguru said the prices on the EVGA G2 PSU's are too low compared to what they are worth and how they perform. If you compare the realistic prices then the RM series are actually pretty good value (Note, the RM needs to be a bit cheaper)

I know, before evga jumped into the psu market I was thinking about getting the rm series, it's not bad but once evga put their stuff out everything else at the same price point became pointless. They haven't adjusted prices to compete.

The RM series are actually quite solid but EVGA G2 is simply supreme. That's all their is to it and that's the only reason that the RM series seem bad in relative comparison now

I have to admit that LTT(linustechtips) is one of the best hardware forum with a top notch community. The EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 seems a much better choice that the corsair one in terms of build quality but how is cable management with the evga and does it runs as quiet as RM650 or even better ?

I will use a fractal define r4 case

P.S I am a noob in building pc and its going to be my first build

No....

Evga 750g2 is better than rm disregarding price.

And cheaper.
