Raudi_

So now msi and evga have copied Asus :-) Actually I'm glad they did. Because the 0db is a amazing feature.

I would feel better going off of an unbiased third party professional review site.

I would too but I don't know how many review sites are gonna rereview a card because of a VBIOS update for it.

exactly! :D I just decided not to do such a fan profile because with my Gigabyte "80X that i had it gave me very spooky PWM readings in MSI AB.

who cares...

EVGA actually offers three (3) differenet style coolers.  There is ACX 1.0, 2.0 and a blower design.  There is also a video on PC Perspectives Youtube page with Jacob from EVGA (linked below and within the first 10 minutes).  They talk about the "heatpipe" issue.  Jacob says that all cards now are shipping with a revised heatsink design on ACX 2.0.  Classfied and FTW have a different heatsink all together.  The choice of cooler is depended on your case.  If you have good cooling, go ACX.  If you have a case that has so so cooling, go blower design so the heat is dissipated through the rear of the case.

The ACX 2.0 does not have faulty heat pipes at all. The heat pipes are designed the way they are for a reason.

And is that reason to make the card louder and hotter on purpose? But really, it may seem that it 'doesn't need' that extra heatpipe, but why stop at the minimum? That's clearly what's happened with ACX 2.0. Whatever happened to over-engineering things? Perhaps EVGA is trying to cut costs? I don't think one heatpipe can cut costs by too much though.. and at the price of heat and noise increase I don't think it is worth it.

FTW

Non-FTW

The FTW card is meant to overclock and have modded BIOS and be overclocked like crazy on air so they wanted better to have a better contact with the GPU core for it. Plus the FTW card has Dual BIOS while the SC/SSC cards only have 1 BIOS.

  • 3 months later...

can you apply this bios update for the older acx coolers, like in case of the 750 ti? or is there already sg like this for those cards?

Unfortunately you can not.  You can always create a custom bios with that profile and or a custom fan profile using EVGA Precision X or MSI A/B.

I have a potato!
