EVGA 980 W/ ACX 2.0 cooler

SlaughterSmurf

So I just heard something that kind of blows my mind and I was wondering if there was truth to it. The individual said the reference cooler for the GTX 980 is better than the EVGA ACX 2.0 cooler.... is that actually the case?

I don't think that the reference cooler is better than EVGA's ACX cooler, that being said, I didn't see any numbers...

No.

But honestly, we don't have much information on the ACX2.0 performance...

Well yes/no, the standard reference magnesium alloy shroud is a pretty decent cooling solution compared to the ACX 2.0 (& many other coolers like the MSI Gaming TF4/5, Gigabyte Windforce previous & now updated look on the 970 etc.) You could say that the reference is better since the cooling is quite closed & not overly affected by the entire computer thermals. The blower style cooler is top notch when working in more confined cases & areas where air flow isn't exactly great.
