Help me pick my ram Linus Techies

Brama

My Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Brama/saved/BDn9TW

Im using the ASRock Z97 Extreme6 MOBO (Black/Blue)

and I have found myself in a mind cringing dilemma

My first confusion comes from the fact that Also the Z97 Extreme6 can support a memory type of DDR3-1066 / 1333 / 1600 / 1866 / 2133 / 2400 / 2800 / 2933 / 3000

The CPU i7-4790k specs say it the memory supported is only 1600.

So I guess question one is, Would memory sticks with anything over 1600mhz even be used to it's full potential with CPU? or would getting a 1866mhz or better just be a waste of money?

2nd. As you can see the Z97 Extreme6 is in a beautiful Black/Blue color scheme. Now me myself I would've preferred a Black/Red but Performance|Cost-Effeciency, and all those great features the Extreme6 has over other Mobos (especially at the price range) comes before colors. Although I am not the biggest fan of Blue. I have to admit ASRock did make the Mobo look good for even a Black/Blue

So of course it's nyce to try and stay inside the color scheme of your Mobo, But push come to shove. Pretty Boys get booted from the gang for the Strong Dudes with 8 packs. GG NO RE. Everytime!

So the Two Cost efficient Memory sticks I have been minding over is the

Black/Red G.Skill Trident X 16GB (2x8GB) 1600mhz / 7 CAS @ $169.99 - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31600c7d16gtx

or the Black/Blue G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2x8GB) 1866mhz / 9 CAS @ $166.98 - http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d16gxm

Obviously when it comes to colors the Ripjaws X would look best. Plus I feel the low profile and the heatspeaders look like they would be better at there job then the Trident X model (But I may be wrong about this, Just how it seems to me when looking at it, If I am wrong about this please correct me)

Now other then the color, profile and heat speader aside. the Next Dilemma is if the 7 CAS over the 9 CAS worth the sacrifice of the color scheme. I firgured the 1866 mhz would help balance out the CAS. But I find CAS to be > Over Mhz. and that's IF the 1866mhz would even be put to use considering the CPU says it only supports 1600.

So Please feel free to help me with this dilemma, Let me know which you think is the better choice and why.

EDIT:

I just checked these out, what about the

Corsair Vengeance: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cmy16gx3m2a1600c9b

and

Ripjaws Z as well : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d16gzh

Which of these four are the best for OCing, keeping Cool, and Performance

Ripjaws have tighter timings i think.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Get the one that fits in with your colour scheme (so the Ripjaws)

So the Profile, Heat spreader, CAS should play no role in the decision?

and What about the mhz question. is getting a mhz over 1600 worth it even tho the CPU specs says it only supports 1600 yet the Mobo supports up to 3000?

tridents are generally bigger with better heatsinks and better for OC

Not a G.Skill fanboy. I actually like Corsair Dominator Platniums the most. But they cost way more. G Skill is just most cost efficient

This is one of the responses I was looking for. I definitely plan to OC my 4790k, Atleast to 4.6 So for this reason alone I would ruin a pretty black/blue scheme for Performance.

if it cost the same or an extra amount that insignificant like a few dollars then go for the fastest your mobo supports.     last time i looked 1600/1866/2133 all cost about the same for comparable modules from same brand/make/GB size

Zxx boards and K CPUs support Intel XMP for automagicly OC'd Ram.  reason why board supports higher speeds and ram is sold at higher speeds are guaranteed to run at advertised speed.

RAM isn't hard to buy.

Pick a Brand

Pick a Color

Pick a GB size (8/16/32/64) - based on need

Pick a Speed (RAM speed won't do anything for gaming. certain apps it will, like video editing.)

Done.

Corsair Dominators are not necessarily better than G. Skill Tridents and Ripjaws.

I know which is why I'm not getting the Dominator Plats. But I still like them better. If I had the money to blow in budget I would.

I'ma just got for the TridentX, Red isn't the worst color to go on Blue and I have read too many good things on the performance of the Trident X. and I do perfer the profile and design. Sadly just wrong color with MOBO, well really the MOBO is the wrong color. I preferred Red. but the Extreme6 just offers too much for the price to say No.

Thank you all for you help
