Actually dig the MSI card. But don't dig the recommended by Fnatic slapped on the box. When endorsement goes too far.

Meh. I've never been a fan of the flashy cards with the funky looking fan shrouds. It's like they're trying too hard to make it look "cool" and it just ends up being too over-the-top, IMO.

 

I prefer the clean, minimalistic styling of the latest XFX cards, among all the 3rd party air coolers. 

 

But beyond all that, I'd still rather save a few dollars, grab a reference card and slap some water cooling on it instead.

so would it be a bad idea now to sell me gtx 770 now or wait till after its officially released to then turn around and get the 980? or is it even worth an upgrade?

I really like the XFX cards styling too. The limited lifetime/transferable warranty is very appealing as well. Why do they not make Nvidia cards, what's up with that?

The 770 is pretty stout card. Unless you're the type of person who has to have the latest and greatest, I'd say just hang on to the 770 until it no longer delivers the performance you want/need. 

 

At least wait for official release and reviews to see how well these new GPUs perform, then decide if it's worth it.

Probably just the contract they have with the manufacturer. There are several 3rd party GPU companies that only make cards for one brand and not the other. (Sapphire, HIS, EVGA, Zotac etc.)

Any idea when they stopped making Nvidia cards? I once purchased a single slot 9800 GT from them in the past, though it failed on me shortly after a year of owning it. I unfortunately didn't register the card with them, so my 1 year warranty was up (as it was not registered). I honestly would not mind purchasing another card from them, though I'm biased towards a certain green gpu manufacturer in my purchase decision making. While, looking back, I don't really like how they styled the card I had, I really enjoy their current designs. Very clean.

What's up with the 6 pin +8 pin on the 970? I thought the 980 only had 2 x 6 pin power connectors?

stock cooler comes with a 8pin for better overclocking while reference boards are only 2 6pins.

I am in need for a card, I'll see if I can get a reference design (if there are reference designs available on launch in Italy) so I can have the water cooling option down the line.

The left half of the TF5 looks 'too much' but other than that the MSI card looks damn good.

I'll throw my money at the most silent card or at a used 780.

All these new coolers from Asus, MSi, EVGA, etc. are looking really nice. Personally, I'd really like to see more triple slot coolers. And backplates.

Paint makes it more expensive

Not every graphics card can have the coloured parts of the shroud disassembled, they come as a whole.

It voids your warranty

I don't want to pay for red stuff because the company doesn't know a thing about design and just blindly follows a trend; that will actually stop once one of them stop choosing the same color.

Twin Frozr V is ugly compared to Twin Frozr IV, I'm really hoping the Tri-Frozr on the N980 Lightning looks as good as the N780 did because I really want to buy the Lightning but I can't if it's ugly

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.
