780 or 770 for me?

voogle951
Go to solution Solved by XiaoPigs,

Get the 780 if you're gonna be playing FPS on a 120hz monitor. It's a worthwhile investment plus the performance difference is really significant.  :)

Hello everyone. I am upgrading my graphics card but I don't know wether or not to get a 770 or 780. I play on one monitor at 1920x1080p (as of now) and am a sucker for good graphics. I do not plan to go three monitors and if I did it would be far in the future. I play a large variety of games from metro to skyrim to bf3 you name it. So do you guys think I should go with the 770 or save an extra 250?

I currently have a 60hz monitor but do plan to go 120 eventually so should I just go 780 or is the difference not worth it? Thanks for the quick replies by the way :)

i doubt you will notice a difference on a 60 hz monitor between the 2 cards. unless you're playing something that goes under 60 fps a lot.

In that case in everyone's most honest opinion how much does 120 hz actually matter

You get smoother animations and slightly faster response times.

A 770 is more like a 680 now that's been slightly beefed up. I would say you should get the 780 now because then you are future proofing yourself for when you do get a 120hz monitor. You will already have the performance to go with your new monitor.

If you have the money for a 780, you could buy a 770, then the 120Hz monitor, and then if you are not pleased with the performance then sli the 770. The 770 seems to scale very well in 2 way sli. That's probably what I would do because I like to play at high frame rates while maxing out games if possible.

I'd go with the 780 .The 770 really isn't a that awesome card. And the 780 will probably serve you a lot longer than the 770.

Depends on What You Currently have...

680 can be flashed to a 770 (at owners Risk)

But id pref a 780 if You have a 120Hz Monitor
