HDMI dust cover MSI gaming 5

I installed the motherboard but forgot to remove the plastic dust cover on the HDMI onboard port. Do I have to remove the motherboard again in order to remove it?

I rekt my IO plate like that. Just pull it out a little (get some help with it if you don't have 4 hands) and get them out, gently of course.

I once had one of these, now I've got this.

If you have a dedicated GPU leave them in. I left them in there too.

Do you not have a dedicated GPU?

It depends on the IO shield, it can happen the plastic piece will be stuck between the motherboard and the IO plate. I have the same issue with my gpu, the hdmi plastic cover was stuck between the gpu rear io thing and the slots from the case, if it doesn't come out easily, removing the motherboard is the best option.

About second screens, you can connect them to your dedicated gpu if you want, but if you want to use the iGPU from your cpu (which you will probably have) you can use the HDMI port from the motherboard, but the iGPU gets standard disabled if a dedicated GPU is present, but you can enable the igpu again in the bios, there's probably a function called intel multi-screen or something like that, enable it and the iGPU will work (don't forget the drivers) and you can use the connectors from the motherboard again.

 

And 1 more thing, you can't combine the gpu power, the screen connected to the iGPU will work independently from the dedicated GPU. Also games don't really like it when they are thrown around on your monitors, if you take a game from a monitor connected to the dedicated gpu to the monitor that is connected to the iGPU, the game can crash, or worse. So just leave games alone, video's are a 50/50 chance, sometimes no problem, sometimes it will break.

No, not at the moment. Waiting to hear what nvidia announces.

Its a tv, and I don't have it connected all the time...and never while gaming. Its just nice to be able to put stuff up on the tv.

I took my gerber and pulled it out, shouldnt be a problem with your I/O shield as long as you snapped it in correctly and pull straight.
