So I have a pentium 4 HT 630 that is on some OEM 775 hp motherboard and it has 3 gigabytes of 400 mhz CL3 RAM what to do? I can't use this motherboard since they desoldered PCI-E slot -.-

I want to get a new 775 board (if i can find one) and do something with it :/ It also came with a 250 GB Maxtor hard drive SATA 1.5...

My advice would be to sell it & get any 1150/1155 or at least 1156 socket system.

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Make a server but it wouldn't be good, sell all the parts or keep it as a old machine.

Make a retro gaming system. That's what I'd do anyways. (P.S. Pentiums FTW)

I have the same processor in one of my rigs. You can use it as an server for old games like CS 1.6.

Or you can get a different 775 board that supports AGP or PCI-Express and test bottlenecking.

Laptop: Intel Core i5-4200H, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce 840M

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Damn, all these reasonable suggestions.
Just overclock the snot out of it for kicks. (given you're able to.)
That's what I'd do.

  • 7 months later...

Hi everyone nice to meet y'all, I have a P4 HT 3.2GHz and the sad story is that it running in a SFF IBM which barely running on win7 like a netbook that uses Atom cpu..

Ive tried running NFSMW the old one on it and just managed to get around 15-20fps ich..

So I was considering to create a new machine but doesnt have enough resources to do so.. and the PCIE slot is the worst evar

And what I wanted to do is build a retro machine for overclocking competition that is running on hwbot.org which falls into classic category..

any suggestion on motherboard and other stuff ?

My goal is to make it run on W8 or W10 and running Firestrike 3D smoothly like 30fps ++... with a budget setup like they've done in the previous video...

In theory I guess it possible , what do you guys think ?
