Microsoft will give you $100 for your old console

Buckley

Original post on here ;

http://linustechtips...or-an-xbox-one/

Although the deal is now going on again

So on my way to work I always pass the Microsoft store and today they had a new banner outside their store.

So from what I could see all they're doing is taking your old 360 (possibly PS3's? I'll ask when I get out)

The $100 they give you is if you're buying an Xbox One.

I'll upload the banner pic I took when I get home.

If this is a repost lmk

BTW final price for a kinectless version would be $299 + tax which is a VERY compelling offer

EDIT/UPDATE - They will take PS3's

CPU AMD FX 8350 @5GHz. Motherboard Asus Crosshair V Formula Z. RAM 8GB G.Skill Sniper. GPU Reference Sapphire Radeon R9 290X. Case Fractal Design Define XL R2. Storage Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD and 120GB Kingston HyperX 3K. PSU XFX 850BEFX Pro 850W 80+ Gold. Cooler XSPC RayStorm

Let me just walk into a Microsoft store and ask if they will buy my PS3.

That seems like a logical thing to do.

I believe they've been doing this since early this year. I know I remember hearing about it a while ago. It's not a bad deal. Gamestop only gives $65 for a 320GB 360 S so if you can get $100 even for a launch model system it's not bad at all.

They'll buy your MacBook Air.

Microsoft are pathetic in that respect IMO

Not really sure I'd call it pathetic. It's a fairly good business move really. If it gets people to purchase Microsoft products why not buy competitor's items from people?

It's just the idea that they would buy a competitor's item, sell it for more on the other side and sell a consumer something that is in all respects different. It doesn't go well with me for some reason.

What I really don't like is Microsoft's agressive marketing against Apple and Linux.

Then you only have one pristine slim :D

I guess this deal isn't too bad for me. I have an ageing Xbox 360 that has seen better years. It got sent off after RROD, and came back with a loud, obnoxious fan, and most of the ports are messed up. If I sold it, I'd expect I'd get like £40 tops.

Tea, Metal, and poorly written code.

Considering this is the first time I've seen this in 8 months of walking by their store, its new. They did do this for the surface, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Brand new 360's are $120, this is a great deal imo

Better yet find a broken console that can't be repaired and take that in for $100 credit. Should be able to acquire a parts console relatively inexpensively on kijiji or eBay.

Honestly I couldn't care less even if they gave me 75% of the money to buy an Xbox One. Unless it has backwards compatibility with the Xbox 360 then I'm not trading in my 360 for it.
