Ok, immediate return.

If you were thinking about this one, absolutely not. I’ve spent the last hour trying to get this “plug and play” device to work and it’s not worth anyones time. Let’s go through everything that happened:

-plug it in, windows immediately installs a driver, balanced 4.4mm is loud as all hell, drop the volume to 5/100

-default playback quality maxes at 32 bit 384khz, still really good but that’s not DSD512 or 768khz

-plays music through groove fine, color led changes between above and below cd quality but groove can’t play dsd

-no player I tried besides Resonic and groove would recognize the device and only Resonic would play dsd

-by only play dsd I mean produce white noise and then error out that the device cannot support that format

-the drivers and firmware updates are subsequently installed, and do nothing except level out the volume by default over balanced which is nice I guess

-would be nicer if any other feature worked at all

Just no, these types of devices are advertised as this super plug and play, fits all your devices type of solution. What I’m seeing is something that doesn’t work with windows, wasted an hour of my time, and led me into this false sense of hope when I heard balanced output 192khz 24 bit flacs at a comfortable volume of which my Walkman can’t handle. So I’m sitting here like finally, my iems I paid a grand for can finally sound like they’re supposed to

and then that’s all crushed by being unable to play any DSD, audio artifacting (which is super fun to get a max volume peak tonal noise for quarter second when you’re wearing in ears powered by a decent small amp), and software compatibility problems across the board.

Im just gonna get a better portable player and forget the usb dac laptop idea

I have been looking for one of these since 2017. And I finally found one in immaculate condition, it only cost me way too god damn much money, but it’s totally worth it to own a machine like this.

Intel Pentium III 600MHz

SiliconMotion LynxEM+, 4MB gpu

10.4" 1024x768, CCFL backlit TFT LCD

256MB PC100 ram, maxed out

32GB IDE SSD (mSATA->PATA adapter)

Windows XP Pro SP3

Antec NeoEco something or other decent PSU for my friends mom's computer. The old OCZ unit in it finally died, I'll have to look up but I think it's at least a decade old maybe more.

Screenshot_20220215-133019_Amazon Shopping.jpg

No case window so don't need modular, less stuff to lose too. Price feels a little steep for a 500W unit but it's supposed to be not junk so I'll pay it. Well she'll pay it when she pays me. Hopefully no other parts are needed for it.

Was it a ZT model?  If so Definetly older than 10 years.  I used one in my Bulldozer 8120 system when they were new lol

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Mechanics best friend...diamonds.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073T6NC1Y/

Some long nipples.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MTYNJFL/

And some RGB fans.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09MJDRYM9/

Diamond blade is unrelated to other two items, might get a drill powered sheet metal nibbler for case cutting tho, looks a lot cleaner than dealing with a dremel in terms of edge quality since it punch-cuts like how OEM's cut most holes and edges for cases. Diamond blade is for work, I do some grinding that needs to have a back edge to grind into some tight spots and this ought to fit the bill nicely and keep a sharp edge where as cutoff discs do not and technically you're not supposed to use their flat faces to grind anything because it weakens them.

Yep shipping to Switzerland is expensive. Same with LTT and GamersNexus orders.

Part 10495 of switching up my wardrobe.

7 quid for delivery. Borderline criminal.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

imagine paying 350 pounds for a sweater that costs 15 to make...

whats criminal is that your buying stuff like that, doesnt matter if your rich or your poor, buying something for a word written on it is kinda sad tbh.

I can totally understand your view point. I mostly think like this aswell.

The vast majority of my clothing is Patagonia. I've only bought this item as it'll fit excellently with an outfit I have in mind. I tried to find something else for cheaper, but this is the exact look I'm going for. The brand hasn't influenced me at all.

As much as I don't want to support Amazon, this is fair I think. But I think I prefer to pay 2-3 pounds for each delivery from smaller companies based in the UK. It just makes me feel better.

Why just a home button? I can easily take just the button from the home button assembly, and put it in place of my 5C's home button, giving it "Touch ID".

As more things arrive you shall see the grand design.

The most gamer-tastic thing I've bought in a while...

A cheap mechanical keyboard from Amazon. Outemu (maybe?) brown switches, that can be changed out or replaced in the future, whack RGB settings that don't match the picture, but only $20 so we'll see how it holds up. They sell a red switch and blue switch version too, but if I end up liking this one I may buy another brown switch version for work and just turn the RGB off, haha.

Key stabilization is good including the space bar, and the switch actuation weight seems consistent. Plus it has an integrated wrist rest which would be a nice selling point at $20 even for a membrane keyboard.
