New PCI USB 2.0 card for my mini-ITX NAS build - This one is nice because it has an inside USB port, so I'll be able to stick some USB device and left it inside the PC case, so I'll have less obnoxious wires from outside.

Sadly, I am unable to boot from USB devices connected to this one.

The fact that this PCI card was manufactured in October 2020 is so astonishing.

Switched from Linux to BSD and don't want to go back. Vaccinated (Sputnik V) since February. If you happen to have a Zotac GT 610 PCI, contact me, I might buy it.

Recently scored on Newegg Shuffle, was able to grab a 3090, it was paired with a X570 Workstation motherboard so I'm currently in the process of selling that and I also had to upgrade my case in order for the card to fit in my rig and also decided to snag a new cooler as my 240mm recently started having the pump get sluggish and temps started to get a lot hotter, my custom cables only had two pcie 8pin connectors so I had to order an extra one that I have not received yet. Specs are in my signature but I'll still list the new parts.

New Parts:

Asus ROG Strix RTX 3090 Gaming OC

3x 140mm Noctua AF140 Chromax Black

Phanteks P500A Digital - White

Corsair H150i PRO XT 360mm AIO

I decided to hop on some Le Creuset stuff because it's both a "Buy for life" item, and I've got quite a few fond memories of cooking with family with some Le Creuset pans, which have become one of many heirlooms. I think it'll be worth the money in the long term.

Eh, I've had some good luck with Teflon coated stuff from Trago Mills. But I've had some Teflon coatings totally go to shit after not much time, so from my own experience it's kind of hit and miss.

I do still have some Iron baking trays that my grandmother has replaced, and they're going strong after a fair amount of time, and alot of yorkshire puddings.

Haha, yeah. I think you'd have gotten the same quality at half the price with a different brand, but I get the idea.

Buy cheap every year or buy good stuff once at a lifetime 😉

I mean kind of, but there's a lot of lifetime stuff between cheap and Le Creuset 😂

NEVER, ever, ever ever ever buy cheap tools unless they are quality tools on sale. Yes, cookware is a tool.

I've used the method of buy a cheap tool for something I'm not doing often, then if I end up using it alot, I'll upgrade it. But stuff I know I'm gonna be using alot, is life dependent, or is under alot of stress, I'll always buy good quality tools.

Using this method, I've amassed cheap tools for stuff like banging crown races onto bike forks, setting star nuts etc. Then I've got expensive tools for stuff I'm doing constantly. Such as Abbey Bike Tools for bearing presses, pedal wrenches, hammers etc. and Park Tool for stuff like allen/hex wrenches.

Another thing I've learnt is getting a good breaker bar on cars. I managed to bend an Ebay special bar on my 911. Apparently 700Nm is alot.

Replaced my aging 42mm Series 2 with a new 44mm SE. Got it on sale at MicroCenter for $289 (MSRP $309). It’s very nice and significantly faster.

Just got this thinkpad L380, probably the best built laptop I've ever had, the laptop itself is very sturdy and feels great. Not to mention that it's in pristine condition, worth every penny of the 300£ I paid for it, plus it still has 10 months warranty.

Man, you got an awesome deal!

Bought an AC because I live in the attic and this week we'll get over 30°C, which means close to 9000000°C in the flat. Due to work from home I finally had to do something.

I've actually been living here for over 3 years and each summer was legit hell 😄 it's only this year that I finally decided to get an AC.

I have these weird swiveling windows though so I have to get a special kind of Sealing for it to work efficiently.

@Benji not that bad 😄 it was a little over 400 and has almost 1000 good reviews on amazon so I guess it's alright.

I like the "kurz & bündig" (in a nutshell) on the French grammer guide. Even though my native language is German, I attended a French school that followed the French curriculum, meaning that all the subjects were taught in French. That's when I leaned that French grammar is quite complex (but I still like the French language a lot).

That's not what I meant  😄. I just know that DeLonghi coffee makers (but even more so the ones by Jura) are really expensive. The same applies to Dyson. They have a freaking 379€ hair dryer. Their vacuum cleaners are just as expensive, so I assumed the same woud apply to DeLonghi.

The RTX A6000 isn’t as offensively priced as some older Quadros, the Quadro 7000 was like $15,000 at launch around 2012 (pretty sure that’s the year?)

Just waiting for a non-10 grand plus GV100.  Thinking about actually getting a Jetson to toy with, not sure what I can do with a 2gb nano model.  I have to replace the VII next year, and I want to go back to Nvidia for 2 reasons.  My main monitor only lets me due this weird HDR bypass if I'm using modern Nvidia cards.  Two, Optix with Blender.  But still, I might hold off for some sweet HBM3.
