~Snipped~

First one is due to losing mine in the move and having nothing to dislodge a sim card tray.  The other is for an RPI project.   Was free due to amazon refunding me for potentially killing me.  Well, I do have to talk to a doctor still yet I think they sold me koolaid with metal and/or glass shard in it.   It was delicious, but the internal damage to my digestive system since then has not been as fun.  Potential lawsuit.

Man...I broke a SIM card tray once on a cheap phone...it was NOT fun trying to get my SIM card out, no matter how hard I forced the pin inside the SIM card hole.

If they'd had battery banks in that, and offered a K/M combo that ran wirelessly and off the Qi charging in the device--that would be killer.

I personally got the K63 + Lapboard combo. If i feel like couch gaming i can just take my G Pro wireless and have at it. No cables, no clutter and keyboard is perfectly integrated. A buddy of mine also wants it but sadly we can't find it in stock anywhere. I think Corsair stopped production for these. But this is basically the perfect product for this job. You can also just take the K63 out of the lapboard then it just becomes a standard tenkeyless with cherry red switches.

I looked at those briefly.  Still think I would have gone with a Turret.  But neither the Corsair or the Turret has the battery bank built into the lapboard.

I personally don't really see a reason for it. Modern wireless peripherals don't need to be charged all the time. I plug my keyboard in maybe once every 2 weeks. My mouse is always on it's charging mouse pad so it's at 80% every time i pick it up to use the lapboard. So i don't really need a charging option everywhere.

Not sure what the 8Gbps is all about if it's a Gen 3 compatible PCIe riser 🤔

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

I picked up a new toy - it's a thin client!

s-l1600.jpg

It's a tiny little Dell Wyse 3040 thin client based on a quad core Intel Atom x5-Z8350 CPU. It has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal flash storage. I'm actually using it right now to type this through RDP.

It was mainly an impulse purchase, but I do have a legitimate use for this machine. I might share that later. I found this on eBay for only $40 brand new. It was still sealed in the Dell box, and came with a mouse, power supply, original documentation, and a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

Oh neat! Is the RAM soldered or can it be upgraded?

It's soldered, but the CPU itself only supports up to 2GB, so you couldn't upgrade it if you wanted to. From what I've heard it is possible to replace the flash storage if you have the equipment.

Ah bummer. It can still run a light Linux with gui tho and do some basic web browsing.

It's actually a pretty decent cooler and that's a reasonable price for it. They're great for smaller OEM systems that need more heatsink than the extruded aluminum pucks they come with, good buy! The fan isn't the most amazing but it'll do OK, a Noctua on there would be great because that fan does get a little loud (or the one on my SM heatsink does).
