I assume those are burst ratings?

Isn't a power amp limited by the max wattage that can be drawn from the outlet?

It's 5000 watts @ 2 ohms x 4 channels. RMS.

It comes with a 32A power cable, so I'm limited to ~7360 watts, but I can feed it more power if I want to.

It would draw roughly 86 amps at full rated RMS output, so I'd have to use a 125A IEC 60309 Single phase plug/socket.

Check out Martin Audio. They make some amazing stuff.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Ok makes sense now.

I kinda figured it was with non standard power and not a straight plug in the wall type of thing.

What are you powering with it?

Oh god yeah no, it's certainly not on a little 13A/230V plug. It's currently on a 32A/230V single phase plug.

It's currently powering a Martin Audio SXH218. The sub is kind of designed around this power amp, so they're a pretty ideal match. Having 148dB of sub is pretty fun. It's currently being used to provide infrasonics and fill in below my current subs in my home theatre.

After I've finished having my fun, the iK42 + SXH218 will most likely move to one of my referencing systems. I've got a setup with the MSX subs/powerplants and MLA Mini line arrays, so the other Martin Audio kit should integrate very well.

Oh wow looks like my workspace in the school IT room. I've got a stack of little GPUs there for testing: a Quadro k620, HD 8570, FirePro v3900, and an ADD2 card. The school for some reason uses only iGPUs so when they retire their systems because the iGPU is terrible but it's only 5 years old... those come in handy

Nice beast.

I'm not new to subs/pro audio/DIY especially ones that are silent but deadly if you know what I mean.  lol

My 2 subs at home give me 102db@6hz, 118db@10hz and 128db@50hz

Both are 21" and powered by 5k each on their own outlet and breaker.

In room I've had measurements reach 132db @ 50hz.

Oo la la. Those subs look excellent.

What freq are they tuned to? 5kW for 132dB @ 50hz seems inefficient to me.

For reference, my two powered subs are 4kW each, and per pair I've measured 151 dB before at 40Hz.

For power, I assume you're running from 3 phase? If so, please be extremely careful about the possibility of getting 415V (Or 208V if you live in a country with 120V power) across any signal cable you might have, assuming each sub is on its own phase.

I've considered getting around to upgrading my power again. I've currently got 32A/230V 3 phase for my listening room, but my dedicated power run from the grid for audio is capable of 125A/230V 3 phase, so I'd just have to swap out RCBO's and then the power runs. It's tempting to do.

They are tuned to 12hz.  I run them wide open until 50hz no higher.

The amps actually overpower the subs easily.

I can do all that with 2200 watts per sub.

Only 20amp breakers and outlets.

Pro Audio like yours is totally different.

Your subwoofer drivers are made to be crazy efficient around 108-110db where mine are rated at 96db.

Yours won't go or work very well below 30hz so they would be no good for my infrasonic needs since movies for the past few years now play well down to 6-10hz.  But your subs kill mine in the mid/upper bass level where kick drums and such need to shine.

2 products made for 2 different purposes.

My families nightclub ran all Meyer's equipment.  High end stuff and it's what got me into this hobby.  Mostly DIY stuff though.

This lil’ dude came in yesterday. Bought this A8 3850 for a relatively good deal with the intent of basing a primarily Windows XP build around it (replacing the A4 3300 I had before), though it’d also end up getting used as a fuck around PC probably.
