but the "damage" was done, she suffers from the most common issue English speaker have with French : word gender.

Yeah. Although as a German I never had trouble with that because we have three genders, so 🤷🏻‍♂️ My issue was rather that I don't understand why the words for different grammatical tenses have to get so illogical and I couldn't wrap my head around the build-up of the sentences.

What I assume at her age is that she'll probably never sound native in French. It is said that the ability to sound entirely native in a language leaves at a certain age frame, in which she currently is. Although you still might be lucky. Did you already see some progress with her French due to you reading books together? Really interesting topic. Languages always interested me.

Ordering off Amazon France with an Amazon Germany account was surprisingly easy. Three different webpages that came up for this exact issue were claiming that on a different Amazon you could only pay via credit card (and not via a usual debit card like they're common in Germany and throughout the EU) or via Amazon gift cards. That apparently is really outdated because the SEPA direct debit (European payment method where they just book the money off your account) worked just as it should 💁🏻‍♂️

I recently bought an i7 6700, 16GB DDR4 and a rather shitty mATX-mobo from a prebuilt PC with basically zero configurability in BIOS and a severe lack of PCIe-slots, so I just got myself a better (used) mobo for it:

2015-09-21-product-4.jpg.f9168ea35d0ced176e779d7bc765ed0a.jpg

Cost me 50€, but with the 6700, it'll be a nice upgrade for my server. With this mobo I can even upgrade to a 7700K or something, if I ever stumble upon one on the cheap, so this'll do nicely for several years.

Hardwood floor casters + single malt = dangerous combination.

I'll be honest, I always liked this episode more for its sheer pointlessness than its tacked-on message. Also, Archibald singing Modern Major General.

No for that use case I would rather suggest a Edding because those are not only waterproof but also the tip is thicker than the one on the Sharpie so your Prank will definitely take way longer to clean off on the victims face.

Well, at least the first two CDs arrived today (even though they were scheduled for monday. DHL Express apparently still takes "Express" seriously. It took 14 hours to send it from France to Germany).

Can confirm, they send my shit I get from Japan to my city in an average of three days.

Keep in mind that I kinda live out of the way of a major DHL facility.

Yup. I don't have a DHL facility in my town, but the next one is just ~70km (45 miles or so) away.

Yeah, my nearest facility is about a 2 hour drive that’s roughly 100 miles (sorry, I’m not good at miles to kilometers conversions) away.

Miles times 1.6 about equals kilometers, which makes it about 160km. Yeah, that's not really close. We have DHL pickup and send stations nearby (multiple in my town), but the sorting facilities are obviously much more rare to see. DHL Express sends off Hamburg to my direction, but regular DHL has a delivery station in my town which fills up the vans.

That's a two hour drive at most. Not a big deal TBH. It just seems daunting when you're not driving long distances frequently.

Yeah, nobody I know drives that much on a daily basis. Obviously there are people that do outside of truck drivers, but that is rather the exception than the norm, at least here in Germany.
