9.9/10. Skimped on the optical drive, blu-ray is the format of the future. Besides that, can't fault it. :)

I was thinking about getting one. Which one would you suggest?

It was a joke. I don't even think there's much of a difference between any of them.

Just got my first rig set up (literally days ago). Here it is:

  • CPU: i5 4690k (Currently at stock, going to OC soon)
  • Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • Motherboard: Asus Z97-E
  • Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB DDR3-1666
  • GPU: Asus STRIX GTX 970
  • Case: Fractal Design R4
  • PSU: Corsair CX500M
  • OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
  • Storage: 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD and 120GB Sandisk SSD (using half as SSD cache and other half for things that I want to be fast)

Extras:

  • Salvaged an ODD from an old Dell. Figured I would not be using it much anyways, so it is better not to spend too much money on it.
  • Also salvaged 2 old (WD Purple 150GB) HDDs from the old Dell. Just using them as a RAID-0 for whatever Linux distro I am interested in screwing around with. Not worried about the high risk of losing data on them.
  • Got a Cherry MX-Blue Mech
  • A-T M50x Headphones
  • Had a budget of ~$1300 CAD  -- -- -- EDIT: Including 13% sales tax

Looks good, especially that price on the R9 285. Nice OC. Cooling is exceptional.

9/10 but keyboard could use some work (mech is totally worth it)

10/10 Are you secretly Linus? That's a Linus build right there.

I did a post earlier with my old specs but here are my updated ones

CPU: AMD Opteron 1222 (3.0 GHz)

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4600 (Hey, it runs League at medium high on around 60 FPS, what could go wrong?)

Mobo: Abit NF-M2PV

RAM: 8GB DDR2

Monitors: ASUS ML288 and Gateway HD2201

Storage: 596GB Western Digital running at 7200 RPM

Audio: Logitech Z-2300 (*airhorns* Seriously though, these are damn good speakers of you are a noobie producer)

I'm one of those people who makes those bass music things.

A question, how does the ATI HD 4600 stack against Intel HD 4600.

Doesn't say anything. The 4600 series is just plain old AND slow, my brother had one of those in his prebuilt Acer. The Intel iGPUs are getting faster, and the 4600 should be faster than the 4600 ATI series.

Meh. I don't do really any hardcore gaming, and if there's any I do, it's low performance games such as league.

5/10. Could do with a better hdd and i'm not sure why you're underclocking your gpu. The case isn't the most athstetically pleasing either, but that's my opinion.
