1080p projector w/ non-1080p laptop?

Kiraaaa

Hi, sorry if this is not the correct section, please move if it isn't.

I have a question. I have the BenQ W1070 Projector which can output 1080p, but I don't have a real "HTPC", instead I use a laptop to connect to the projector to watch movies.

The movies are also 1080p quality, but the thing is my laptop is 13" and only has a max resolution of 1366x768.

So the projector and movie are both 1080p, but the laptop which I use to play the movie off of onto the projector is not 1080p. Does this mean I am not really watching the movie in full 1080p?

If the movie and the projector are 1080p, then it should project/play in 1080p. The resolution of your laptop display is irrelevant.

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

It will work fine :)  The laptop display you can think of as just a monitor attached to the laptop, the projector would be like attaching a different monitor.  The laptop can output to the native resolution of whatever is connected to it provided the connection supports it (and all connections support 1080p)

Right, I should have known the answer but I kept thinking about it and confused myself lol. Thanks for the confirmation. Time to go enjoy some movies (:

Yes as others have stated the hardware on your laptop is only limited by your monitor specs. Most laptops will have a Function key to allow projector use only and from there you can also can the resolution of your desktop if it does not automatically convert the image to the correct resolution to your TV/projector.

Ask any question you have here. Even just as a confirmation.
