A federal judge struck down Indiana's ban on same-sex marriage Wednesday in a ruling that immediately allowed gay couples to wed.

 

The court clerk in Marion County, home to Indianapolis, began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couple about an hour after U.S. District Judge Richard Young ruled that the state law violates the U.S. Constitution's equal-protection clause.

 

"Same-sex couples, who would otherwise qualify to marry in Indiana, have the right to marry in Indiana," he wrote. "These couples, when gender and sexual orientation are taken away, are in all respects like the family down the street. The Constitution demands that we treat them as such."

It worries me that this is happening. The western culture has become quite degenerate in the last few years. A huge push for recreational drugs and more over sexualisation of stuff.

 

I dont mind that people are gay, but I find the whole gay 'pride' events quite sickening. I used to live in a city (Manchester) that has a gay pride event. It consisted of men walking around essentialy naked, wearing the tightest underwear that they can find. I dont mind gay people, but that degenerate part of 'gay culture' needs to go, and I think thats why a lot of people have an issue with it.

 

 

Also, I dont think its right to lable somebody homophobic because thye dont agree that gay people should be allowed to get married. Its like calling people who are apposed to immigration racist. Its just dumb and stops and meaningful debate from happening.

I believe that will change just after the next federal election.  I believe this current government will make it part of their next election campaign.  They want to change it for all Australia from the top down not the states up.

He was already talking about it a few months back, he said they wouldn't do it this term because they went to the polls saying they wouldn't, but they will start talking about it before the next election.  In politics that means las much as a promise, however the fact that he was talking positively is encouraging.

Except that marriage is a semi private function that isn't about sexualisation it is two people joining together.

What happens after the event is a private thing.

 

And hell if they want to be public about it so be it, they've waited long enough for equal rights let them celebrate once it becomes normality for everyone to be allowed to get married you will only see the super hardcore publicly celebrating. 

 

The Gay marriage debate shouldn't even be a debate there is not a single reason to oppose it, It isn't something that hurts straight people by being legal. Unless you want to argue it goes against your religion. In which case you religion is fundamentally broken and I could probably go through it and find contradictions in many places.

 

 

As for your immigration comparison, Immigration allows a flood of unskilled worked to make there way into the country working sometimes illegally and sometimes just accepting work for lower wages than that of a national. This can cause jobs to be lost to nationals and cause a reasonable xenophobia.

Gay marriage allows gay couples the same rights as straight people.The downside? Maybe a slight increase in divorce proceedings but Straight people have had that covered for a while now.

He went to the polls promising no new taxes either. Then the GP thing happened. I don't care how you rationalise it, that's a new tax and a lie from Abbott and his Govt. I don't believe he'll do a damned thing relating to same-sex marriage, but I also don't believe he'll have a second term as PM to be given the chance to do anything with it.
